This is a really good lens
This lens adds some considerable weight to the iPhone 16 pro max but it makes up for its hefty with some mighty fine macro photography. This was well worth the price for the variable zoom lens that can get in close to the action down to just millimeters. I am using the Neewer iPhone 16 Pro Max camera cage alon GB with a 17mm – 37mm thread adapter for the cage 17mm lens template. This would attach directly to the adapter instead of removing the phone from the cage to use the supplied adapter that clamps onto the phone. The image above was taken under those conditions over the wide angle lens with an LED warm tone naked bulb. No filter. Dialing in your focus is really easy to do and there is no complication added by the lens, just the camera trying to switch between focal points with the lens mounted.

Great lens for iphone13/14
Photo taken at 5x digital zoom on iphone 14. These springs are 0.045â outside diameter with a wire diameter of 0.006â (0.002âthicker than a human hair). Taken sitting on a sheet of paper so you can see the texture definition is very good. The additional ring light is good but makes adjusting the focus a bit tight. Overall a fantastic lens for the price. Highly recommend for macro photos.

Not for iPhone 11
This will NOT fit an iPhone 11. To clamp in the correct position, the bracket presses on both the power and volume controls, causing the phone to take screenshots and make emergency calls etc. Very inconvenient. Given the placement of buttons and lenses on the phone, there is no way to avoid this problem.In addition, to center the macro lens over the phone lens, an additional shim needs to be used outside the phone. Without it, the macro lens cannot be centered correctly for the camera.

Good at reducing focal length, but had low magnification and an awkward lens holder.
In terms of its advertised function, this macro lens really did allow my phone to take pictures from very short focal distances. The focus was adjustable over a range of about 1″, but in practice this function was almost meaningless on a hand-held phone, especially when the subject of interest swayed in the breeze. The lens also did not obviously magnify the image, and it somehow prevented my phone from using the digital zoom above 3x. That was disappointing because I was looking for 10x, so this limitation almost negated the advantage of using this lens in the first place (minus one star). However, I’ll give them credit for a solidly built lens holder, which would be good if you are willing to permanently dedicate a phone to it. However it was difficult to repeatedly change between the regular camera and the macro lens while in the field, and there was no way to put both lens caps on at the same time without unscrewing the lens first, which was time-consuming and tedious. The lens holder also had an annoying tendency to push the buttons on the side of my phone, triggering unwanted pictures, videos, and phone calls (minus a second star). Admittedly, some of these difficulties may have been self-inflicted, as my phone had a thick rubber case that just barely squeezed into the holder

Well Built, but Minimal Magnification
The lens seems to be well constructed (a solid heavy feel with what appears to be good glass). However, when using on an iPhone 16 Pro Max, the lens did not provide any macro magnification at all. When comparing macro images taken with just the iPhone 16 Pro Max against an image taken with the lens attached, there was obvious degredation in the photos taken with the lens but no actual magnification. The zoom function had little to no effect, so not even sure if that is a viable feature. May work with Samsung phones, but not much luck with me on an iPhone.
