Customers say
Customers find the lens offers great value for money and produces sharp images when stopped at f/2.8, with one customer noting its warm, beautiful light capture. Moreover, the lens works well with Canon T6 cameras, particularly in low light conditions, and one customer describes it as a great starter 50mm lens. However, the build quality receives mixed feedback, with some praising its construction while others describe it as cheaply made. Additionally, the auto focus system is slow and noisy, making it a significant drawback for many customers.

You get what you pay for, and a whole lot more
I’m no professional photographer, but I’ve been doing amateur photography for over a decade now. I also rarely do amazon reviews because I rarely am impressed or feel the need. In this case, I am both impressed and feel the need to leave feedback. I am not an employee of Yongnuo, nor was I given anything for this review. I bought this lens with my meager blue collar paycheck.I’m leaving this review because this is one of the best lenses I’ve ever owned. It’s far from the best lens in terms of quality, nor does it have built in IS (image stabilization), so you’ll probably be able to tell the difference between this and the highest end Canon CN-E 50mm that retails for $3,000. Yep, $3k for a nifty fifty lens. On the other hand, this lens new runs for what, $70? The performance per dollar spent on this is astronomical.I previously owned the first version of this lens for about a year. I purchased it preowned and sold it when I sold my Canon SL3 to buy a full frame camera (sold the lens because I didn’t know which brand’s full frame camera I was going to go with). I ended up going with the Canon 5D Mark II. It’s slightly older than I wanted but I couldn’t pass up the price, less than $400 for a full frame camera that I can install magic lantern on and only had 25K shutter count. I immediately went to purchase another Yongnuo 50mm but discovered there where actually 2 versions, the one I originally had and this version #2. So I bought this and my first experience wasn’t a fluke, these lenses are the real deal. This lens does something for the entire photography consumer market; It shows us that there’s a huge, MASSIVE markup on lenses. The quality & performance of this lens is virtually identical to the $200-$300 Canon version (my girlfriend has one and I’ve used it on many occasions) but without the insane markup. Hopefully Yongnuo will keep making lenses if only to provide more competition which will drop the price across products & brands.Drawbacks: This lens is NOT built like a tank, like the high end versions or Canon’s own high-end 50mm. It’s also not weather sealed nor has any bells or whistles (no IS). Since this lens is so cheap (monetarily), it doesn’t really matter that it’s not built like a tank, if it breaks it’s not going to cause you to sell your car or take out a second mortgage to replace it.

Bueno con buena iluminación
Aún le falta respecto al enfoque cuando hay poca luz, en lugares con buena iluminación funciona bien.

Amazing lens for a cheap price
I bought this for my Cannon EOS Rebel T8i. It fits perfectly, and it works amazingly well. It was the cheapest option available to me, and I was very nervous upon ordering, but I couldn’t be happier with my decision now. I am posting some photos that were taken with this lens.

Amazing bang for your buck!
I am no expert photographer, matter of fact Iâve only taken a dozen of photos with any camera other than my phone! I watched videos and read tons of articles on photographing people when I eventually came to the conclusion that the 50mm was pretty much a staple lens for this. I was hesitant because there are so many others that are a lot more pricey however this one is great! The pictures are of my son and I feel like they turned out amazing for a newbie like myself! Itâs well worth the money for the clarity and quality of the photo!

Super cheap plastic build and unacceptable Auto Focus noise
Iâm a professional musician turned streamer over the last year and just upgraded from canon M50âs to canon RPâs. I used this lense on a Meike EF to RF adaptor. (I def recommend the Meike over the Viltrox adaptor). Overall – this lens produces nice images for the price but it is SO cheaply made and the auto focus noise is unbearable. If youâre 100% manual focus itâs hard to find too many faults with the lens other than a yellowish overall tone (compared to canon lenses) and the super cheap build quality. For $200 the canon EF or RF version is worth the extra $ for me. Fun experiment but grateful to AMZ 30 day free return and glad to have native Canon RF glass on the RP now.

Iâm not a professional photographer by a long shot but this makes your photos look pro! Great value alternative to the Canon nifty fifty. Iâve only had it for a couple of days but love it so far!

Im really unsure about the brand isnât that reliable name; so I did a bit of research on the earlier 50mm and this f1.8 ii ; trust me itâs hard plastic looks strong enough & lighter looks good elegant in black, the white special edition has its own grace. I did not do a test shoot Yet, this review is only based on my first impression; testing itâs working functionality .. focus noise is quieter – I donât know about itâs AF noise while video capture .. what I love the most is itâs a bigger lens for a nifty fiftyIâm giving 4.5* based on the seller and Amazons quick delivery managed sending a new boxed ex factory lens fresh & hot from the oven
