SEOUL: On Monday (Apr 28), the city of Daegu in South Korea instructed over 1,200 residents to leave their homes after strong winds intensified a wildfire, leading to the closure of a nearby highway due to safety concerns.
The fire started around 2pm (1pm, Singapore time) and quickly spread to an estimated 50 hectares within two hours because of dry conditions and ongoing winds, according to a statement from the Korea Forest Service.
