   Identical to the brand that first offed these.
   As I stated in the title, this is identical to the name brand that made these viewfinders popular. The same mounds appear to have been used so even the weaknesses are duplicated which make the viewfinder a little less than perfect. If I could have deducted 1/2 star I would have.Composition in art is very important and the first step in composition is deciding how to fit a scene onto your canvas. That’s where this viewfinder comes in. The sliding window is adjusted to the form factor of your canvas and you view your scene through it to select your composition. Line ed edge of theDifferent form factors are embossed on the viewfinder body. Both sides are embossed with different form factors. You simply align the edge of the sliding window to the form factor you want. This lets you visualize what the scene will look like with different form factors.This embossing is where the imperfection lies. The raised numbers are not very prominent and are hard to see. This is the only problem that I’m aware, but it is in the name brand viewfinders as well. It is obvious that the same molds are used for all of these.It’s still a very useful tool. Sine it is identical to the others except for the price, it’s safe to get the lower priced viewfinder.

   Small, Portable, Useful Tool for Artists and Creators
   This is a wonderful view-finder and is exactly as I hoped it would be.It’s made of sturdy plastic that’s smoothly finished. Since it’s plastic, it’s fully washable, which is a big plus for those of us who use paint or ink and sometimes accidentally get it onto our tools.The use of both sides of the view-finder to offer the various sizes is a clever use of space. The slide that adjusts to the various sizes slides easily, but stays put once you get it where you want it.I love the addition of the color-isolation hole in the center for helping us to figure out exactly what we’re looking at. That can be quite a life-saver when it comes to accuracy.It’s small enough to conveniently fit into a pocket, but it was kind of the manufacturer to include another hole in one corner of the device so that we can hang it from a cord, key-chain, or lanyard if we like. I’ve added it to a lanyard that already has other artists’ tools on it to make it easy to grab and go when inspiration hits me.The shape and size of this view-finder also lends itself nicely to being held in place by one of those phone-holders that so many of us have. Clip one end of the phone-holder to your chair or table or easel and place the view-finder into its clamp and you won’t have to find your place each time.Another use I’ve found for it is for picking out color-combinations of yarn. You can put a few colors of yarn together and then view them through the view-finder to isolate them from everything else that’s around them and give you a better idea of whether those colors are pleasing together or not than you might have gotten by looking at them in their surroundings. I suppose this would also serve the same purpose for choosing fabrics for those who like to sew.I highly recommend this as a small, portable, useful tool for artists and creators of all kinds.

   very useful item for artists.
   Exactly as described. As an artist I have made my own ‘view finders’ from empty slide casings or cardboard … how wonderful to find these, which are larger, sturdier, and have a slide mechanism to resize the view… recommended.Would actually like one twice the size of these.I ordered 2 to compare. Both exactly the same, one a $ more than the other. Both more than I would have thought.

   Great View Finder
   View Finder works just as expected! I recently got a book that required a view finder so figured I’d pick on up compared to making one. It seems to be a good material and is pretty sturdy as well as being very easy to use!

   Pretty good
   I love the concept of this product – it’s meant to be adjustable to whatever proportions to represent the view that would fit on whatever size paper you’re using to plein air paint, so that you can more easily proportion the view on your paper as you sketch or paint. It’s clearly molded with upraised measurements listed on the outside edges, and you pull the inner piece out to the marking to achieve the proper propportional perspective.My gripe with this is that there is no way to easily mount this in a fixed spot with the perspective fixed, so if you hold it up manually, it’ll be in a slightly different location/position each time you hold it up. So the manufacturer or the end user needs to find a way to securely hold it in one spot with the sliding piece fixed in place as well. Otherwise, it’s useless.

   Excellent Al Fresco Painting Tool
   Really useful tool for deciding a scene for your painting. You can adjust the dimensions with the slide. There are dimension markers on both sides of the viewfinder. It’s small and lightweight enough to take with you while traveling and painting al fresco (even if you’re making micro paintings). Great investment if you intend on painting outdoor landscapes. You’ll still want to take a reference photo, as you’ll want to capture a specific time and lighting conditions.
