A gynecologist has stepped down from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario after Toronto Public Health informed patients that the medical tools used at her clinic were not properly sanitized.
A notice on the CPSO website indicates that Dr. Esther Park, who had her license limited to office-based gynecology last December, will cease practicing medicine this Wednesday.

According to the announcement, Park is resigning after investigations into her practice were initiated due to two public complaints.
The notice also mentions that Park has agreed never to reapply to practice as a doctor in Ontario or elsewhere, and her resignation effectively ends those investigations.
In February, Toronto Public Health issued a warning to 2,500 of Park’s patients about possible exposure to blood-borne diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C due to inadequate cleaning and sterilization of medical instruments.
The Canadian Press has not been able to contact Park by phone, as all calls go to voicemail. Previous attempts to reach her at her clinic for comments have also gone unanswered.
