Good Addition To The RS3 Pro – UPDATED REVIEW
My initial experience with the SMALLRIG Wireless Control Handgrip was not completely positive, but I reached out to SMALLRIG and they worked to resolve my issue. I am using and testing this unit again and my experience is very positive so far.SMALLRIG makes quality products (there’s a SMALLRIG cage on my camera, I have a SMALLRIG cage handle, SMALLRIG carbon fiber rods, etc.) and they do care about customer satisfaction. I appreciate then reaching out to me and then continuing to touch base to make sure I was happy. The SMALLRIG Wireless Control Handgrip is a well-designed product, connects quickly and easily, and enables complete wireless control of the gimbal, including start/stop recording. I am pairing the SMALLRIG Wireless Control Handgrip with the SMALLRIG Magic FIZ wireless focus controller to build a remote monitor control rig for my RS3 and Panasonic GH6.My only wish for the SMALLRIG Wireless Control Handgrip is for more mounting hardware options. I used trial and error and finally used ARRI style rosette mounts (see photo) to attach the handle to the side of my monitor cage. SMALLRIG designed the handle with 3/8″ ARRI stye locator holes on one side of the handle, and 1/4″ ARRI style locator holes on the other side – not sure why. There is also a NATO style clamp on the bottom of the handle, which helps when mounting to bigger gimbal rigs. The handle is reversible left-to right and can be flipped up or down, so this isn’t a huge problem, but the choice to use ARRI style locator holes is oddly limiting – especially when they include the 1/4″ size. My request would be this: Manufacturers, if you are going to put 1/4″ ARRI mount holes on a product, please also make the associated 1/4″ hardware available. As such, 1/4″ ARRI rosette mounts are almost impossible to find. Personally, I’d like to see this handle with a NATO rail clamp option on the sides, or just a set of 1/4″ holes to make mounting even more versatile. My ultimate request for SMALLRIG designers: The controller is magnetic and can be completely removed from the handle, right? So please make an alternative handle/grip with different mount holes that can hold the magnetic controller unit?So far, so good, with the SMALLRIG Wireless Control Handgrip. My initial tests are promising, and I look forward to using this setup in the field.Thank you SMALLRIG, for reaching out to make sure I was happy with this product.

Excellent Addition to DJI RS 2/3 Pro – Boosting Functionality and Ease of Use!
As a professional videographer, I’ve been using the DJI RS 2/3 Pro for quite a while, and I recently decided to add the SMALLRIG Wireless Control Handgrip (Model 3949) to my setup. This addition has been a game-changer, significantly enhancing the usability and control of my DJI gimbal. The standout feature for me has to be the wireless control module. It syncs seamlessly with my DJI RS 2 and has given me the ability to adjust the camera’s focus and zoom wirelessly with great precision. This has allowed for smoother transitions and much improved filming results – especially for those tricky tracking shots. One other feature I appreciate is the magnetic attraction handle. The handle attaches and detaches smoothly, providing a quick and secure connection. The overall design of the handgrip is ergonomic and the grip is comfortable, even during extended periods of use. This handgrip has ample mounting options, which adds to its practicality. The threaded holes, built-in cold shoe, and NATO rail allow for a variety of attachments, such as monitors, microphones, or lights. As someone who often needs to adapt my setup to different shooting scenarios, this versatility is invaluable. The construction of the SMALLRIG Handgrip is commendable as well. The robust build quality ensures that it’s sturdy and feels durable, giving me confidence it will hold up well under regular professional use. Despite the solid construction, it’s surprisingly lightweight, making it easy to handle and doesnât add unnecessary weight to the overall setup.Regarding setup and usability, it’s a breeze to connect with the DJI RS 2/3 Pro. There was no complicated process to pair it with the gimbal and the controls are intuitive to use. It makes adjusting settings mid-shoot quick and easy, saving valuable shooting time. The SMALLRIG Wireless Control Handgrip has truly stepped up my videography game. It’s enhanced my ability to capture stable, cinematic footage, while its ergonomic design reduces hand fatigue. The added flexibility of attaching extra gear is a huge bonus as well.To anyone using the DJI RS 2 or RS 3 Pro, I can’t recommend the SMALLRIG Wireless Control Handgrip enough. Whether you’re a professional videographer or an enthusiast looking to level up your gear, this product is worth every penny.

Joystick issue
I really want to recommend, but the first one I bought has loose and unresponsive joystick and I had to return. The second one has arrived, but its joystick pushes the camera in reverse direction when pushed to the end.I will keep the item, but this issue is super annoying.

No issues other then battery consumption which is reasonable. Keep extra pair of battery of gimble if you want to use it for a day.On hand record button is so beneficial that in editing I dont need to do much curating.Saves my hardrive space as well.

Eye Shoot Images –
Great device and handy in many situations. I wish the joystick had more tension like the one on the Ronin R2. Itâs tricky to get smooth and consistent movements as a result but doable. Just takes several more tries than it would with DJIâs joystick. Also depending the weight of your rig you might squeeze the grip very tightly. This grip attaches magnetically and can sometimes shift when squeezing hard due to the weight of the rig. It throws you off but ultimately youâre going to hold on to your gear with your life but I can see someone less experienced fumbling this and potentially dropping their rig.
