A nice to have tool for flash photography
This is not a required one but a nice to have one. Eliminates all the guess work in your photography. Perfect exposure all the time with this tool. More useful in studio setup. I am still trying to learn with this. Very useful so far.

A must for the serious photographer!!
I have been shooting pictures for a very long time. I always wanted a light meter. I belong to a photography meetup group. One of the members had a Older sekonic light meter. He and I talked a great deal about using a light meter. He showed me how to use it. I did! I was amazed at how easy it made my shoot go for the day. When I arrived at home, I started my research. The Sekonic 478D-U was the best option for me. It makes my shooting workflow very easy. The touch screen interface is very intuitive. The menus are vast and many. However, getting it up and running was very easy. I will never shoot without it! Now, I can concentrate on composition more than ISO, Aperture and shutter speed. It was worth the investment.

Do you need a lightmeter to take great photos? No
Do you need a lightmeter to take great photos? No. But this item does exactly what it say it will do.When in a rush, this item has saved me time with camera settings. No more guessing for the correct settings. It’s great for studio lights ratios and as well as correct exposure for the given studio light.I love it, and love the ease to use. The only thing I regret about this purchase is not buying this earlier…

Failed after a dozen uses and had to pay for repairs
Product failed 9 days after the three year warranty was up and Sekonic wouldn’t cover it. I used this meter about a dozen times and kept it in its storage bag which I kept in a foam flight case and only used it in our photo booth at our shop for product photography. Everything on the meter worked great for the few times I used it. I pulled it out one day to check and adjust our flash set up and it was giving me inaccurate readings by 2-3 stops off. I contacted Sekonic about the problem and after dealing with there weak customer service I had to pay $90 for a new pc board to be put in since I was 9 days over the warranty period. For a meter that was taken extremely good care of and used only dozen times they should have covered it and they have lost me as a customer.

Really Good
Really nice gadget, real performant. 4 star because I find the little button on the screen a bit small to press accurately and no I do not have puffy finger on the contrary, pianist fingers. A bit square, it could have been design with nicer lines I think.

Great light meter. It does not have built in radio connection but really that isn’t needed.
