Canada Day festivities at Saskatoon’s River Landing will change this year, with fireworks set to launch from Rotary Park.
Usually, the fireworks are fired from the Broadway Bridge, but due to construction, organizers have opted to use barges on the river this time.
However, Shad Ali, the director of the Canada Day celebrations, mentioned that the current high sediment and low water levels in the South Saskatchewan River made that plan unfeasible.
“This means we can’t get the barges in place,” he said.

Activities will still be centered around River Landing from noon, including Market Square and the Gather Local Market.
The fireworks display is scheduled for 10:30 p.m., with other events kicking off at noon.
