MOSCOW: On Wednesday (Apr 30), Russia and North Korea kicked off the building of a road bridge over the Tumen River to enhance their strategic alliance, as announced by Russia’s Prime Minister.
This new bridge will be located close to the existing “Friendship Bridge,” a rail bridge that was established in 1959 following the Korean War.
During the ceremony marking the commencement of construction, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin highlighted the importance of this project for Russian-North Korean relations, according to the TASS state news agency.
“Its importance goes well beyond just the engineering aspect,” Mishustin was reported to say. “It represents our shared aspiration to strengthen friendly, neighborly relations and to promote cooperation between our regions.”
