The Kremlin has announced a two-day ceasefire in Ukraine that will take effect on its own.
On Monday afternoon, President Vladimir Putin stated that the ceasefire will begin at midnight on May 8 and last until midnight on May 10. This period coincides with Russia’s observance of the end of the Great Patriotic War, which refers to its conflict with Germany from 1942 to 1945, known globally as World War II.
