On Sunday, the Phoenix Suns reportedly reached an agreement to trade Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets, marking a significant event in the NBA offseason.
Durant, who moved from the Brooklyn Nets to the Suns during the 2022-23 season, will join the Rockets in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft, and five second-round picks, as reported by ESPN.

Speculation about the Suns trading Durant had been ongoing for weeks after the team ended the season with a disappointing 36-46 record under coach Mike Budenholzer. The Suns had hoped that bringing Durant into a lineup with Devin Booker and later Bradley Beal would elevate them back to the NBA Finals.
However, the Suns struggled to make that happen, losing in the Western Conference semifinals in the 2022-23 season, getting eliminated in the first round in 2023-24, and not qualifying for the playoffs this year.

At 36 years old, Durant remains one of the league’s leading scorers when healthy, averaging 26.6 points per game with a shooting percentage of 52.7%. He has been an All-Star every year he has been able to play since the 2009-10 season, although he missed the entire 2019-20 season due to injury.
In this trade, the Suns are acquiring two important players in Green and Brooks.
Green, who is 23 years old, played all 82 games for the second consecutive year in 2024-25, averaging 21 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.
Brooks, aged 29, is being traded for the second time in his career after moving from the Memphis Grizzlies to the Rockets in 2023. In his two seasons with Houston, he has averaged 13.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
