The City of Regina has appointed Jim Nicol as the interim city manager following Niki Anderson’s leave, effective April 29, 2025.
A special city council meeting on Wednesday led to Nicol’s appointment, recognizing his extensive experience as city clerk.

The council discussed filling the administrative role in a closed session and then unanimously approved the decision to move Nicol into this position.
Mayor Chad Bachynski mentioned that he has no further details regarding Anderson’s sudden leave, citing it as a personal matter.
Anderson took on the role of city manager in Regina in 2022 after serving in various leadership roles in Edmonton.
Nicol will serve as the acting city manager until further notice, while Amber Ackerman has been named the new city clerk during Nicol’s temporary absence.
