It didn’t feel like cheap plastic and the rope it came with was just that, ROPE not cheap string. Although I didn’t put it through super rough terrain I can tell the quality is there and will last long. My son is only three so I just pulled him up and down our street but at the bumpy parts it held up well and it still looks brand new. Worth all the money for a smile on my boys face on yet another snow day. On my first run I hit a tree but it didn’t break. And it zooms down the hills while being very light to carry. I really recommend this sled! I use it for deliveries from Amazon etc. I fell picking up a box. All I do is slide the sled into the house. No falling no injury. Some of the boxes are heavy, the sled is perfect. No more asking neighbors to help me. Reviewer: Jomantra Rating: 4.0 out of 5 stars Title: Sturdy sled, but be careful of hand holds! Review: I purchased the Retrospec Retrorider Plastic Snow Sled – Toboggan Style with Pull Rope, in the Wintertide color. It took about 2 weeks to receive the sled, which came in a large cardboard box.Living in the southern tier of states, we don’t have too much snow here, which means I don’t know too much about snow sleds either, but I wanted to be ready this year…..just in case. This one seems pretty sturdy as compared to a few sleds I have bought in the past. The plastic, it is made of, seems ridged enough to sled in, as compared to a few sleds I have had in the past. From “bow to stern” the sled measures 46-3/4 inches long. Outside width, at widest point, is 18-7/8 inches wide. The floor of the sled is approximately 11-3/4 inches at its widest point. It has a distinctive upward bow in the floor at the front of the sled, tapering to almost a flat floor near the back of the sled. The rope (red) extends out 33 inches from the front of the sled at its longest point! The 1/4 inch rope is held in place, thru two holes in the sled, with knots tied in the rope. There is no reinforcement to the holes in the sled for the rope, which would have been nice. One thing that I found might be a problem, the four hand holds, cut in the sled’s sides, have finger notches formed into them. The notches each come to a sharp point. Falling out of or accidentally misplacing a child’s hands on one of them, could cut the fingers if gloves are not worn. These sharp points should be easy enough to cut the points off of with a sharp knife or file, but they should have been rounded so as not to injure a child’s hand while riding in the sled.Again, this sled seems much sturdier made than sleds I have bought in the past. I paid almost $40 for this sled made in Wintertide color. There was a very small choice of colors for this size sled when I ordered it. Since I don’t purchase that many sleds, for the sleds I considered on Amazon, this seemed like a reasonable price for a sled with this durability. I am hoping it lasts for several years. It literally cracked in two places using it only about 5 times down a hill. Also, trying to return it, they are saying that i need to have it boxed up. Well, the box was thrown away and to ship it back in a box is going to cost me money to buy a box for it. I should be refunded my money and the return should either not be required or without a box. This item is defective because the plastic is so thin, even a kid will break it. It functions well and it’s for adults and children! It’s material is perfect not to thick or thin! Good value for the money! Reviewer: Jessica J. Reviewer: Dorothy McLeskey Rating: 5.0 out of 5 stars Title: Good enough for me Review: It is small, but for the price, it’s ok. Good for children. But, I’m not a big person and we don’t always get a lot of snow. I feel like the commercials of the older ladies sitting on a bench watching the children sled riding. I’m a young great grandmother and I want to put one of my dogs on it and let them ride e me. And it will work for me. I could never see the width, it’s about 14 1/2 inches width. I’m 5’6” and about 135 in weight, I’ll have to bend my knees somewhat. Once it snows and see how durable it is. I give it a 5 because it is small, I paid a small amt. So as far as price it goes w the sized. Reviewer: Ane of The Rock Rating: 5.0 out of 5 stars Title: Review: I bought this sled to help bring groceries from the car to the house on snowy days. I’m 80 yrs old and my 74 yr old post-stroke husband and I use a collapsible wagon in the warmer seasons but winter snow poses a different hauling problem. The sled is sturdy and big enough to carry lots of begs and boxes. It will be a huge help once the snow flies. Just what so was looking for.
