Review: The brew group unit was completely jammed and wouldn’t function when we received it so we packed it up and sent it back the very next day. It didn’t appear that the unit had ever been opened so I don’t believe I was shipped a used machine, I just believe the quality control is bad. All of the interior working mechanisms are plastic and the quality just isn’t what it should be for the amount of money they are charging. I was truly expecting a much higher quality product. The biggest problem here is you will end up making a lot of coffee, and some very incredible hot chocolate and about a million other things. Definitely gets a lot of good use. Great morning cup, even if a little smaller, but it is easy to make a double. Love trying the variations. The steamer is able to do quite a bit, and it is easy to clean. Review: Bourght this machine after sampling a Cappuccino at a kitchen appliance store displaying this coffee maker. It was so good. A sales person explained all the features and I was impressed that it makes 20 different types of hot and cold coffee. I went home and found the machine on Amazon for a better price than the store, so I ordered it! Upon arrival I quickly assembled it. The first few coffees didn’t turn out as I expected, but I have to admit I needed some online instructions and a few more tries. Finally I got the hang of it and now I cannot go a day without a Latte, Cappuccino, Espresso or just some good old coffee. I’m still learning some of the finer tweaks but I can see this is a winner. Will see how long she lasts but the additional warranty from Philips upon registration was a nice surprise.Milk frother actually works and is easy to clean. Find myself making a cappuccino quite often due to the ease of use and of course the flavor and the frothed milk! Have only scratched the surface of all this thing can do. Only slight complaint is the bean hopper feeds of to one side, and due to the build, beans don’t always make their way into the grinder. Review: This is a great Espresso machine with far more options than the preceding model. However, I gave it four stars due to the very short warranty. (36 months) My last Philips Espresso machine came with a 10-year warranty, which to me suggests that this 5500 unit may not be as robust as the one I have stored in my garage as a backup. Rating: 5.0 out of 5 stars Title: Convenient way to get quality espresso coffee drinks Review: I’ve owned the 5400 for almost 5 years before it started not cleaning properly I feel there’s a blockage in the coffee spout. But it still made coffee. So i replaced it with this 5500 model. I’ve noticed the improvements a quieter grinder more of a seal on the coffee bean holder. And more of a seal on the milk holder top. Give it at least your first 20 or so drinks before fully judging the taste of the drinks. To adjust grinder push down while its grinding counter clockwise is finer clockwise is more course. Only move it one click at a time. It gives nice foam for your cappuccino and lattes. And a good creama on top of your coffee and espresso. If you’re coming from the pod system or regular coffee maker you won’t be disappointed. Just make sure it’s turned off when taking out the brew group there’s a lock system. Rinse it off weekly. Grease it monthly. For reference I love a strong full flavored coffee I always use the extra shot feature in my drinks.
