Fantastic with XLR Phantom power, not as good on battery
Movo X3-II 11-inch XLR Shotgun Microphone for Camera – Supercardioid Condenser Shotgun Mic for DSLR, Content Creation, Video, and Filmmaking – Directional Boom Mic with Rycote Shockmount, GripOn XLR with phantom power this mic punches well above its weight. Easily competes with far more expensive mics. On battery itâs not as good sounding. You seem to loose allot of bottom end and the overall sound gets thinner. However placed in its proper, just out of frame position, not on camera, and using phantom power this thing sounds fantastic. Very impressive. For these purposes I highly recommend this and I am grateful to have this mic in my mic locker. It also comes with all the accessories and cables you are gonna need. Just be aware I feel itâs better into an XLR input rather than 1/8â input on battery. It also has good uses in music recording. Just consider this an XLR mic that needs phantom power and just forget about the battery.

Solid Mic
This Movo X3-II 11-inch XLR Shotgun Microphone works well. It is a solid mic. It is a large mic so for me it works better in stationary setups. It is a versatile mic, works best using XLR phantom power, but it can also be powered via an AA battery. Sound quality is clear using phantom power. The mic is well built and sturdy, made from aluminum. It also includes all needed accessories and cables (XLR to XLR Cable, XLR to 3.5mm TRS cable). Plus the storage bag is very convenient, makes it easy to store in my bag. Overall, it works well, is well made, and has clear mic quality.

Good.
I love that it comes with a XLR to XLR cable as well as a XLR to 3.5mm jack. That way I can plug it into a professional interface, or just slap it directly into the camera. It gives the option to power with phantom power through an interface, or with only a single AA battery. I’ve yet to see a microphone with that much versatility.I tried it with the 3.5mm jack and the audio I received out of it was mediocre. It was very quiet, and if I turned it up, I got a slight hum in the background.I’ll be trying it with an XLR port on an interface to see if the quality improves, but as my intended use was the 3.5, it’s not really going to work for my purposes. It does provide audio that’s better than the camera, but not as good as I was hoping for.On a happier note, the windscreen and deadcat work fantastic for windy environments, so if I need to record on a windy day, this may still be a go to mic.I was also impressed by the shock mount at avoiding snaps and pops during hard movements.Overall a good mic.

Amazing quality
Thereâs nothing like a good quality XLR mic. This mic delivers audio quality that trumps all my much smaller vlog style mics. This mic is very large and I would not use it in a vlogging scenario unless I was stationary. This is the perfect mic for long format videos, interviews, podcasts and talking head videos. The audio is exceptional with both cables, but I honestly prefer plugging the XLR in to my Zoom H8 recorder for the best audio possible. It comes with an XLR to 3.5mm cable. I mounted this on a boom arm and tilted it down while being positioned slightly out of frame and the audio was cleaner, and crisper than when I wear any of my wireless mic sets. This will find a permanent home in my office for all my audio needs.

Missing ALOT of pieces
I am disappointed because I only received the mic, one – double XLR cord, and a carrying case. The other items pictured (XLR to 3.5, both windscreens, handle) were all not in the box.

Mic quality good, missing items not received.
Microphone is good with phantom power. I bought New but didnât receive any XLR Cables or Mic Bag. MOVO would not replace the missing pieces. So I practically got scammed? I didnât want to waste more time and just getting a replacement. But overall the mic is good quality for the price but beware when purchasing.

Not suited to outdoors. Should have spent a little more on a much better mic.
I bought this to combine with a Zoom H4nPro for field recording nature sounds including birds and as a camera mic for recording videos.First it does not work on the internally battery power alone. On battery and plugged into my Sony camera, it is less sensitive than the built-in camera mic and it’s noisier. On battery and plugged into my Android phone with a 3.5 to usb-c adapter it can barely pickup birds 10 feet away.Plugged into the Zoom H4nPro via XLR with 48V phantom power enabled it does better, but is still not good enough for recording birds. Raising the input gain high enough for bird sounds to peak at -18 to -12Dbs makes the self noise way too audible. I even tried upgrading from the XLR cable provided, but it made no difference.

I was very disappointed with the sound of this mic on battery power. I then tried it on phantom power and it’s definitely better then with the battery, but still just as good as the camera’s onboard mic IMHO. If you’re podcasting and have it right in your face I guess it would be OK.

It is okay. The audio is just passable, but it comes with a lot of quality of life stuff. Overall just not worth the price at all.
