Great flash, as described
I am an amateur photographer, but studied photography some at university. After doing some research and gaining more knowledge about the advantage of a hot shoe flash I found this one for my canon. When I went to order it, an Amazon alert read “frequently returned item,” so that concerned me. But it seemed that a lot of negative reviews were from folks with less understanding on the operation. As long as you read the description and understand your camera, there’s no reason to not get this flash. The price is great and it works well!

This is a good unit.
It was much better quality than I expected as I had not purchased one in 25 years. I clipped it onto my 1969 Rollie 35 and it works great.

Works great.
It was easy to setup and was delivered in a timely fashion.

Just Okay
I read the reviews before purchasing but ended up ordering after previously owning an older altura flash kit version. I purchased a different altura flash (2-3 years ago?) and loved it! Did the job and was able to use it as a beginner… I purchased this flash as I thought it was similar and still compatible with my Canon t3i as an off brand flash kit. This altura flash was much taller than my last altura flash (by at least 3 inches when fully extended) and felt bulkier when using. I was also somewhat disappointed that this new flash did not come with a velcro strap carrier case like my older version (comes in a drawstring sack that would need to be stored inside your camera bag). After an hour of use, I noticed that the battery compartment just would not stay close after many attempts to keep it shut! All night, I kept re-shutting the battery compartment. Other reviews had warned about this but I just thought people were being overly dramatic… I debated on being ghetto and just duck taping it shut, however —-why go those lengths for a brand new flash??? You shouldn’t have to. I ended up returning due to the flash’s functionality. If you’re okay with the battery compartment opening and the bulky size of this flash, than it’s for you! *You get what you pay for I guess*

Easy to pick up and learn flash with great results!
Picked this up for $61 as I often do indoor photography and I just hated always cranking up my iso super high. This flash was the perfect remedy for that.I like that the flash feels durable with some weight, though it is made of all plastic. It comes with a diffuser and a reflective piece that helps make the light softer.I mainly picked this brand because I previously purchased alturaâs camera lens cleaning kit and was pretty satisfied with their quality. The picture of my cat was taken at 1/250, F2.8, Iso 200, Flash on 1/32 bounced off the ceiling. Pretty good results! Beats cranking iso up to 8K or dropping the shutter speed too much. The flash has several steps of power going all the way down to 1/128.Havenât used it long enough to list the conâs. Will update if I am unsatisfied with the flash.

Great manual flash for the price
This is a great basic flash with multiple settings. The hinge on the door over the battery compartment is a bit fragile so care needs to be taken with it but for the price youâre not buying a high quality flash. I bought these for doing photos of shelter animals and I just do a couple of test shots before I start to get my exposure set right. I have yet to need to use them on full power and the optical trigger works fine as long as the sensor is in view. I use Eneloop rechargeable batteries in them and although the recycling time isnât super fast itâs not an impediment in most cases.

Flash
Works for what I need. It’s just what I wanted to take night pictures.

La petite porte pour les piles ne ferme plus comme il faut lorsque les piles sont à l’intérieur du Flash.
