Really good monitor
This is a really nice and versatile monitor. It’s high quality but not too heavy and the screen and picture quality are nice. You open the screen by flipping a little button and then the sunscreen flips quickly and forcefully into place. The first time it’s a little shocking. It has an HDMI in and out port (for passthrough video) and comes with a micro and regular HDMI cable. It also has a battery that charges via standard USB C, or you can power it directly via USB C (or DC, but you will need your own DC power adapter).Overall, this is a terrific external monitor even if your camera has a flip out screen, and it’s a great value for the money. There is a more expensive “X3” version, but as far as I can tell the only difference is SDI compatibility, so if you don’t need that there’s no reason to spend the extra.

Perfect Monitor
Outstanding functionality and build quality. The design features a lightweight metal body. The included case, battery, sunshade, mount, and cables make this a complete kit. The case has precise cutouts for the monitor and accessories. The NP-550 battery charges via the included USB-C cable and has a charge indicator. The cold shoe mount holds the monitor securely and is adjustable. The sunshade is large and retracts to protect the monitor screen. The supplied cables are of good quality. There’s an HDMI to HDMI and an HDMI to Mini HDMI. I haven’t seen a camera with Mini HDMI, most are HDMI and Micro HDMI. The image quality is excellent, it’s also touch screen, and there are lots of features like focus peaking, zebras, image flip, and user-added LUTs. The monitor can be powered via NP battery, 12- 18V/2A power adaptor, or Type C 9V/3A. The fan, while not silent, is whisper-quiet. It’s robust, has lots of useful settings, and has multiple power options.

Great Upgrade
I was genuinely happy with my previous monitor, but this is definitely a huge upgrade. One of the first things I noticed, is the previous monitor had the HDMI ports on the bottom, which kind of got in the way of the tripod. This monitor has moved the HDMI ports to the side, which is a much better placement. This actually works a lot better in real world use. The image quality is excellent too. Likewise, color accuracy seems spot on. In terms of user interface, everything is super easy to use and laid out in a way that makes perfect sense. The other thing that I like is this monitor has a touchscreen along with physical buttons on the top. Another cool feature is it comes with an NP-F style battery which lasts a pretty good amount of time. Overall, Iâve tried a few different monitors, but this one really is my favorite so far. Highly recommended.

A worthy tool I could get very used to
I picked this monitor up, in part, for use with a telescope I have equipped with a DSLR camera. Accurate focusing is important with any photography, and with astrophotography can be even more so given the faintness and minute size of distant objects. My camera is equipped with a frame magnifier to dramatically increase the image size through the viewfinder. That, combined with the scope focusing tube, the up to 10X zoom capability of the VILTROX monitor and its brilliant FHD 1920x1080p screen, takes focus to the individual pixel level. The monitor comes with a sunhood to bolster the clarity even further. Iâve found sunhoods can be helpful depending on where the camera needs to be positioned, but glare is unmanageable at times and is no different with this âquick releaseâ hood from VILTROX, which I found much easier to mount than release. Including the battery, the monitor weighs 1 lb. 14 oz. There is a threaded, 1/4-inch adapter on the bottom and side of the monitor for H/V viewing. The monitor allows users to explore options ordinarily reserved for post production. With touch screen ease, common parameters such as Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Hue, Sharpness, Backlighting, Color Temps and RGB levels can be adjusted and previewed. The monitor also allows LUT previewing from user-provided files via USB input. I put two folders of LUT files on a USB flash drive (not included) to join several manufacturer-provided default files. The monitor only opened one folder. Perhaps they need to all be in one folder. Not a biggie. Aside from that, they were trouble-free. Also available are more-advanced tools for managing histogram, vectorscope and waveform options. I dabble in histograms, but for me the value of these advanced features is they will serve as accessible, real-time learning tools that I can take on at my own pace. The monitor has three power options: via USB Type-C, an NP-4 Series lithium battery and a DC IN 12-18V/2A power supply. A 12-inch Type-C cable and battery are enclosed, but an AC/DC power supply adapter is not. Thatâs disappointing. If the adapter is not supplied, then complete specs including barrel plug size would be appreciated. The instruction manual is available online or by scan as one of three PDF files having two 10-page language versions on each. To print, it is cumbersome to ferret out your language from the others, and the manual reads more like an index than an instructional source. The biggest frustration, though, is the adapter that connects the monitor to the camera hot shoe. It is designed to tilt and rotate but it effectively does neither. I had to put it in a vise to get it to budge either direction. I was able to loosen the adapterâs two tiny hex nuts and add some silicon grease, to no avail. It is still frozen, and attempting to adjust it when it is seated in the hot shoe would be disastrous. I have replaced it with a ball head adapter. Not happy. Included with the adapter, sunhood, Type-C cable and battery are a quality, semi-hardshell, zippered case with a zippered mesh pocket; two screen protector films; a warranty card; 20-inch HDMI-A to mini HDMI-C cable; and a 20-inch HDMI-A to HDMI-A cable.

The VILTROX DC-X3 6″ Camera Field Monitor is a game-changer for videographers and photographers. The 4K support, 2000nits brightness, and 1920×1080 IPS display deliver stunning clarity, even in bright sunlight. The touchscreen is responsive, and the 3D LUT feature is perfect for accurate color grading. The 2200mAh battery lasts surprisingly long, and the sunshield is a thoughtful addition. A must-have for professional shoots! Great Value for the money!

This monitor is mind blowing, and not “for it’s price”. But simply an amazing monitor. Ten years ago, you would have to pay upwards 1500-2000 euros for a monitor with half the features. We have so much cost-effective gear to choose from nowadays. The body of this monitor is metal, so it feels really good in the hand, but it is not a heavy monitor either. It is around 320 grams, so when on the camera, you hardly feel the weight.
