I bought the L50 Ultra right before Thanksgiving 2025, and wow — it has completely changed my home.During the first week, I ran this robot vacuum every day, sometimes multiple times a day, testing different settings and figuring out the best cleaning schedules for our household. We’re a family of five (three kids, two adults), plus a dog and a cat, so seven total — and this has easily been the best investment I’ve ever made for my home.The vacuuming is excellent and the mopping works extremely well. What surprised me at first was that while the cleaning was good, it wasn’t perfect right away. The robot clearly learns your home over time. The more it ran, the better it became — both in cleaning performance and navigation. Even two months later, I still see it improving.Our home has three carpeted bedrooms, a large living room rug, kitchen mats, and tile flooring that looks like wood, and it handles every surface perfectly.Initially, the battery life seemed a little low, but that also improved with use. I’m not sure why Dreame products behave this way, but I noticed the same thing with my Dreame Z30 stick vacuum — battery life was short at first and then got better over time. Either way, I can’t complain. The L50 Ultra will vacuum the dining room, living room, kitchen, both hallways, and laundry room in about 60 minutes, then mop those same areas in another 70 minutes, and still finish with around 25% battery remaining.The suction power is honestly unbelievable. When I first bought this, I was also considering purchasing an air purifier because of pet hair and dust — my dog sheds moderately and my cat sheds a lot. Since running this vacuum daily, I no longer feel the need for an air purifier. It does such a great job removing dust and debris that there’s practically nothing left in the air.I run scheduled cleanings every day, and each schedule vacuums first and then mops:• 8:30 AM – Living room (vacuum → mop)This area includes the litter box and the back door where the dogs go in and out in the morning.• 2:30 PM – Main house cleaning (vacuum → mop)Kitchen, dining room, hallways, and surrounding areas.• Nighttime – Full house cleaning (vacuum → mop)Runs after the kids are in bed so everything is clean for the next day.This robot has been a complete game changer for our home. I have a large house and usually have two robots in action each day. I have been a long time fan of Roombas in the past but this new Dreame L50 Ultra machine blows everything away that I have owned and tried. I mentioned that I have a large house. My house also has a lot of furniture, obstacles, and pets. Some of the obstacles are in hallways and there are lots of chairs like bar stools, and dining room chairs. I was skeptical that the Dreame L50 would be able to do a decent job but decided to give it a try. Wow! Call me impressed. I received it last night, downloaded the app, got it connected, filled with water and cleaner, and let it charge. Using the app, I set a schedule to run every night (after we go to bed). The robot successfully mapped AND cleaned (mopping and vacuuming) the entire floor space that it could reach on the first go. The “Clean genius” (Dreame’s AI) was awesome, sensing dirty high traffic areas and applying the proper cleaning methods to make everything spotless. When we got up in the morning and inspected the floors, my wife commented that the floors were sparkling clean (and she is not easily impressed).Setup of the machine and equipment was extremely easy and fast. I had the entire thing unboxed, on the base, filled with water and cleaner, and connected to the app in about 30 minutes. I found the app easy to navigate and understand and extremely responsive. Every time I made a choice in the app, the robot almost instantly gave an audible response confirming the choice. This was also true during connection to the wifi through the app as well. The app walks you through the connection process and it worked flawlessly with no ambiguity or guess work. It also connected almost instantly. The clean and dirty water reservoirs are super easy to access and fill/empty as well. Cleanser filling was equally easy. This machine was extremely well designed and engineered (I am an aerospace engineer btw). Everything went together smoothly and I did not have a single issue with any part of the setup. Simply awesome. When I emptied the dirty water the next day I was surprised at how dirty the water was. We have the vac set up to vacuum and mop every day and will keep it that way until we start getting mostly clean waste water. At that point we plan to decrease the mopping frequency. I can’t say enough about how well this machine works. Well worth the (admittedly) high price we paid. The Dreame L50 ultra has my highest recommendation. We have 2 border collies that are outside in the cows when we are and come in when we do. They have lots of hair and make lots foot prints haha. This machine is so good, we never see hair and it washes the floor perfect. To say that I’m very fussy about my floors.I give 5 stars because of the well functioning machine.I tried leaving a dog toy & a container on the floor. It went all around them. When it finished cleaning, it let me know it couldn’t clean that area because there was a obstacle in its way. Also the dogs couldn’t care less if it vacuums around them.As for battery, we have it clean 2000 square ft once a day and has lots of battery life left after vacuuming & moppingIts very quiet.I’m impressed with it. Called for support they diagnosed as firmware issue and asked me to ship back for repair.Did not provide packaging, but emailed a disclaimer that I am responsible for correctly packaging on case of shipping damage.1 – I would expect an appliance that I paid over $1000 for work for longer than a month2- that I would not have to risk sending my expensive device via UPS to a different province to repair3- that I would have been offered a replacementEdit-support offered a refurbished replacement upon receipt of my defective device.
