I have a front mount rack for the geopro but we opted not to utilize it on this trip because we can only fit 2 bikes on it. So I open up my Amazon Prime shopping app and begin to browse. I came across this Demon pad initially because of its low cost. As I read through the reviews I realized that there was more to this than the low price. In my experience this is easy to install and mount bikes to. There was zero damage to the truck after a 500 mile round trip to Bryce Canyon National Park and Zero damage to the bikes!You cannot use your backup camera. Other than that this is very, very high quality gear. Now, I am of the generation of people that drove automobiles before they had backup cameras so I wasnt very concerned about not having it, that being said, it still took a minute to get used to not being able to use it and relying solely on my mirrors to hook back up to the trailer at the campground.I highly recommend this over other name brands like thule, Yakima, dakine and fox. The pad extends the full width of the tailgate but doesn’t get pinched between the tailgate and body when the gate is closed. The loop and stick closures are plenty sturdy to keep your bike securely held to the tailgate. When I pulled the Demon pad out of the shipping box I was concerned it wouldn’t cover the entire tailgate down to the bumper, but it is just the right length. The backing is soft to protect your paint and the covering coated to resist rain and sun. For the price of the Demon this is an incredible value in a tailgate pad. A few minor dings … the flap is not large enough and blocks the backup camera on the truck, even if you pull the pad down toward the bumper. The fit is very good but the Demon pad does have a big gap at the top of the tailgate. This doesn’t affect the function of the pad but is visually a bit odd. Lastly, my bed cover will not close with the Demon pad in place. For me this is not an issue, I only plan to put it on when we are transporting the bikes, but something to consider. Review: As a family of five that lives on gravel roads, we have to haul our bikes to local trails to enjoy rides together. This tailgate pad allows us to easily fit and secure five bikes in our Ford truck bed without damaging the truck or bikes. The pad features velcro that you put around the front bike wheel to hold it in place, though I don’t know if it’s completely necessary. We also like the storage pouch to store bike essentials like tools and a tire pump. When we’re ready to go for a ride, it’s nice to have everything already prepared in the pouch without having to worry about pulling together all the things you might need. Reviewer: Family Rating: 5.0 out of 5 stars Title: Great pad at a great price! Review: Sweet pad, does exactly what I bought it for. At first I thought it might be a little shorter than my other pad. So I threw it on the truck, and loaded up a few bikes to makes sure they were all good (see pics). Perfect coverage, nothing touching the truck but the pad. Even my downhill bike with longer forks was still perfect. The coverage in the back was definitely shorter, but that doesn’t affect anything in my opinion. I like the depth of the middle peice that goes over the top of the tailgate. It was perfect on my 2016 F150. The top of the tailgate on my truck does taper towards the ends, so it bends down towards the edges and doesn’t lay perfectly flat, but I had the same thing on the last two pads I bought, (Dakine and Raceface) so if you have an F150 your gonna have that same issue. It’s a cosmetic thing though. As soon as the bikes are on you couldn’t ever tell… So to sum up, it’s way better than a blanket, and just as good as every other tailgate pad I’ve had over the years at a much better price. No brainer. Now the only thing I ask is that they make it see through so everyone can see the platinum badge across my entire tailgate. I need to keep my DBag status…. Reviewer: Evan Rating: 5.0 out of 5 stars Title: Stands up to years of hard use Review: 5 years of hard use in dry desert climates of the southwest US and in humid wet areas of the east and I have never had a complaints. It has stayed on my truck the entire time in all weather conditions, sun or snow. Only now am I looking to replace it. Needless to say I came back to this listing looking to purchase another and felt I could leave a good review while here. Many great group MTB trips and daily adventures. Recommend.
