Recent days have seen soaring temperatures as a heat dome blankets the northeast. New York has experienced extreme heat not felt in a decade, reaching a record of 96 degrees, which ties with temperatures set back in 1888, according to Fox Weather.
The incident on Monday follows a similar situation earlier this month, where police had to disperse around 500 teenagers at Jones Beach, about 30 miles from Coney Island, due to multiple altercations.
Additionally, a series of fights and stabbings occurred over Memorial Day weekend at a popular boardwalk in Jersey, resulting in numerous arrests.
