Cheeseplate Sandwich.
Purchased this once to replace a cheap one that came with a shoulder rig kit. Purchased a second one to build a different, smaller rig for handheld shoots. Both were good investments. This item, the Niceyrig baseplate are built solid. It is basically four separate parts, the top, and bottom are more or less aluminum cheeseplates with two aluminum 15mm rod holders sandwiched within. As others have suggested, this makes for a strange design should you opt to connect your camera directly to it. In this scenario, you would have to unscrew the bottom plate to unscrew the camera. Tedious to say the least. I decided to connect the top piece to a quick release baseplate, and the bottom to a quick release slide. In this way, should I wish to mount the entire rig onto a different platform, it is just a matter of sliding it on, or should I wish to just remove the camera, I can slide it off, and onto a different platform. So it works well for me.The finger tightening knobs are made from aluminum, feel strong, and are the ratcheting type. Turn, pull out and reposition, then turn again until tight. I for one really appreciate that little fact. Especially when they are in a tight area.Tip: If not attaching directly to a camera, use thread lock to keep screws from wiggling out.Pros: Sturdy, durable, made of aluminum all around, ratcheting thumbscrews.Cons: Must disassemble to connect directly to camera.Overall I would recommend this product.

Very solid at a great value.
I’ve been looking at rail accessories a while now, and this is part of my first rail build. I’m extremely happy with this piece so far. You can buy a baseplate that is just one of the rail mounts and one baseplate; this is basically two of those put together. It makes a ridiculously solid baseplate with two rail mountings. However, you can also take it apart to use it as two baseplates or for other purposes in your rig.I can’t really think of any downsides to this, especially for the price point. I could spend more to get a quick release version somewhere, but this is an amazing starter kit. I pretty much made this a permanent part of my camera cage, so it just slides on rails and tightens to mount.

Very functional
I found this to be a bit heavy, but does the job well.It is perfect for lighter cameras on todays heavy payload gimbals. Adds enough of a rise and weight to help the gimbal adjust.

Works and worth the money
Works as described. I wish it was a little lighter. I bought some carbon fiber 15mm rods with them and it works great. Worth the money

Look elsewhere if you want reliability and longevity.
Spend the $20 and get a smallrig one. It will not hold up. The hex screws are soft metal and will strip. Recomend you get higher quality ones. The side ratchet rail tighteners stripped. If your going to be doing switch-outs often, then get a professional piece.

Great but wish the wing screws were a bit bigger and made of metal . they feel like they could break

Stripped Screws 2 Months In
Basically all the screws stripped within 2 months, making the thing almost useless. To access the baseplate attached to the camera you basically have to remove the second plate, which is pretty tough to do with stripped screws now.
