It’s amazing!
I have tested this tripod with all my camcorders and it works amazingly well. In the picture is my Panasonic HC-X20 and it works well with this camcorder as well. It is very sturdy, well built, easy to handle and feels comfortable resting on my shoulder with the shoulder pad.

Exactly what I needed.
I got this for a camera that’s almost exactly like the one in the product description picture, and it works perfectly. Assembly was very easy (even though it came with no instructions) and quick. It’s very sturdy once together. I can quickly put it on / take it off the tripod without issues.I got the one with two handles even though I knew I wouldn’t use the handle on the right (I keep my right hand on the camera to zoom, etc) because the handles become legs if I need to set it on the ground, which is great.I’m very happy with this product, and my co-workers (I shoot news at a tv station) are already asking me for the link to buy one too.

Instant improvement on handling my Sony NVCAM at a price that will pay dividendds fast!
Finally landed on a budget rig to lighten the load of handling my Sony NVCAMs. I am mocking this shoulder rig up on my backup video camera and so far I like it a lot!I try to stick with a tripod with these cameras because they are heavy to freehand. A few weeks ago, I volunteered to take some video at a wedding. I needed to pull the Sony off the tripod and shoot freehand catch the bride and groom walking down the aisle after vows. Software stabilization mayl clean some of the shake, but if I only had this rig…The 12″ 15mm rails work with this large camera. In fact you will see that I have rail extending forward under this initial set up. I also purchased and added NiceyRig end screws to the rails to reduce any potential accidents. While the 12″ rails are working, I will either purchase extensions or the longer rails to experiment with accessories and a counter weights. The good is that I can already feel the upside of resting the camera on my shoulder. While I am pretty steady with lighter cameras, these larger cameras are much harder to hold steady even if you use your body as a tripod. It was also pretty cheap as shoulder rigs go. Ultimately this is a basic “core” rig that I should be able to customize as necessary. There are some minor issues I need to fine tune or will just have to live with. The “live with” issue is that mounting the Sony camera puts the view finder above my eyes. This isn’t really a problem since the Sony has a flip out color screen that I generally use more than the view finder. In fact adjusting this to focus on the color screen pushed the camera back on the rails. One issue I have so far worked around is that the base plate came with two screws. One 1/4 and a larger one that doesn’t fit any holes in my Sony. So I took a screw from an retired tripod’s quick disconnect plate and added that after removing the bigger screw. The minor issue attached to that is that the screws do not have those washers that keep the screws from falling off the plate.Otherwise this appears well built, solid, with a good finish. I will get some longer 15mm rails to experiment with accessories. I really could use a quick disconnect plate forward of the shoulder mount, that will allow mounting on one of my Manfrotto tripods. So next I will look for some accessory plates, a counter weight (as suggested in a previous review) and an external battery pack.

Works extremely well
I purchased this to support a Sony FS7 4K video camera. This makes the unit much more comfortable for the operator during long hand held sessions.

Buy it…
This is a really good shoulder rig. Everything on it is well made. For the price they are asking for it is a steal. When you mount the camera on it, it looks so nice with the handles on. It’s also very sturdy. It’s a bit shorter than some shoulder rigs due to the rail pipes that came with it but you could easily make it longer by getting additional pipes for it. I highly recommend this rig

Get add-on’s to accommodate full-size camcorders
I bought this shoulder rig to use on my Panasonic AG-UX180 4K Camcorder. It works quite well — IF you buy a couple of add-ons. First, I guess I’ll never understand Amazon’s Ai(?) logic in presenting the “Buy it with” enticements because what I’m writing about here is what you really should “Buy” if you’re planning on using this with a full-size camcorder such as the Panasonic just mentioned or the Sony shown ghosted in the images of the product “parts.” I suggest the 4lb REVO counterweight that attaches to the back of the Niceyrig shoulder pad. Additionally, you’ll need the pair of SMALLRIG 16 Inch (40 cm) rods; need the extra length with these rods, replacing the shorter ones that come with the rig (btw, the diagram shows the existing rods are 30mm. That equates to just under 2 inches. Totally incorrect data. So, once you get the add-ons I suggest, you’ll be all set to accommodate a larger pro-sumer camcorder. Lightweight af.
I just used this for the first time on a shoot with my FS7 and I LOVE IT. Itâs the perfect size and easy on the arms. It also works just as well as any traditional rig Iâve used and it comes apart easily and fits right in my case which is always a plus.

I bought this only because I needed a solution to keep the HDMI cable from being tugged out of my camera a the worst possible moment. I used Velcro to strap my cable to the rig. I was able to fasten the camera power supply to it as well. I would have given it 5-out-of-5 stars if the material in the shoulder mount was more durable. I imagine I will have to patch it with something less fragile at some point, so I’m very careful where I set it down to avoid scuffing it. The rig was used on a three hour live shoot and was much more comfortable than holding a camera against the operator’s chest for stability. If you are in a situation where your gear doesn’t get a lot of abuse then you’ll probably find it to be good value for the money spent.
