Dave B in The Tetons –
Solid build, easy cell connection, bluetooth app w/aim function is clunky
This feels well made and also seems very tight from a weather perspective. Iâve paired this with the Moultrie 10w Gen 2 solar panel. This is our first trail cam and weâve only had it about a month so I expect thereâs a bit of a learning curve.Connecting to cellular was really easy, the unit took maybe 2 or 3 minutes to connect.Because it doesnât have a built in screen it has an âAimâ function where you can pair it to your phone via bluetooth during initial set up on location. I thought it would be great, instead it was balky and slow. It was slow to connect and then it either cut off or timed out rather quicklyâ¦this was really annoying though a great idea in theory. It has only triggered by me in front of the cam when it was being set upâ¦otherwise crickets. It looks across a small irrigation pond where I hear coyotes almost every night. Iâve set it to send me an image every 24 hours so I know itâs operational. With the solar panel (in mostly shade) the unit stays pretty steadily charged at 97 – 100%.Image quality during the day is really good. At night it is pretty grainy. You would probably know whatâs up close say 10 – 20ft. but no distance. Additionally, it is important to trim away any brush that may be in front of this camera because at night the reflection of the IR light off nearby tree trunks or brush is blinding.
