From the brand
We’ll start with the trail camera overall for most people. The clever touch here is the fact that it includes dual sensors, one for day and one for night. The day sensor prioritizes sharpness and vivid color, while the night sensor focuses on high-contrast clarity, promises clear images at distances of up to 65ft in the dark.
Where should I set up my trail camera?
There’s plenty of contention within the hunting community on this point, but as a general rule of thumb, 3 to 5 feet off the ground is a sensible height. Alternatively, you could try going to 7 feet and angling the camera downwards. In terms of location, try and find a spot in the wild where you know wildlife is frequently active, so you have an excellent chance of capturing some interesting shots. These placements also work well for monitoring flora and fauna for wildlife photography and security.

Ticks all my boxes for an outstanding, lightweight night vision camera to use when solo camping.
Iâve purchased other trail cameras and was instantly unhappy with their quality. One, in particular I thought Iâd like because it had a built-in screen but it took 8 batteries and its weight felt like a brick. I plan to do some solo camping this summer and lightweight gear is a necessity. Therefore, I purchased this MAXDONE Trail Camera because it ticked several of the boxes for things I want from a camera, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with its build, features, and performance! Here are 5 highlights I appreciate most:1. High-Quality Imagery: The 1080p HD resolution is crisp and clear, capturing detail images perfectly. The photos, whether taken during daylight or at night, are consistently sharp and vivid.2. Night Vision: The night vision feature works exceptionally well and has allowed me to capture nocturnal wildlife activities without any issue. It has a wide detection range, ensuring nothing goes unnoticed.3. Wifi Connectivity: It advertises a Bluetooth connection, but I havenât found that the be the case. Regardless, the Wi-Fi feature alone makes it incredibly easy & quick to connect to my iPhone. This seamless connection has enabled me to view images in real-time and then share them from my phone. Very cool! Other trail cameras I used I had to remove the SD card physically to transfer. Not the Maxdone camera. Best part is, this will allow me to be several feet away in my tent and I can observe whatâs outside in the dark without exiting my sleeping bag. Big perk!!!4. Durable: Iâve exposed it to outdoor cold & wet weather conditions and no problems so far!5. Value for Money: At $49.99 with a substantial discount, this trail camera has given me the best value for its quality, features, and ease of use.Iâd say this camera is a must-have for anyone interested in wildlife photography, for anyone wanting to monitor their property discreetly, or like me, someone wanting to have peace-of-mind while out camping. Overall, the Maxdone Trail Camera is an outstanding product that delivers on all its promises. Whether you’re an avid nature enthusiast or simply want to capture outdoor moments, this camera will exceed your expectations. Highly recommended!

CS did respond to issues
Updated review October 2024:Customer service was responsive & addressed my concerns and I have adjusted my rating accordingly. That said, IR image captures were never retrievable for download from wifi connection, though the others were. Was eventually able to view & transfer them directly from the SD card but removing the card to even *view* the night footage is not what I wanted. Hopefully this and other issues will be corrected for future purchasers.Original review September 2024:Headline: Some quirks, IR image captures irretrievable – no good for night!Overview:image quality and detection good – picks up the critters, generally doesnât trigger for wind or light artifacts. water resistance good. mounting, ok. software – poor. Several seem like easy fixes. wish they would bc itâs otherwise a good camera. they could pay a dev a minor amount to fix these couple issues and be 5*. If not for the night capture failures, It would be still 3.5-4 stars even with the other issues, but that makes it unusable. I really wanted to like this and initially did…. until the first nighttime capture, when I realized that I would have to replace it :-(Cons/quirks:Hardware: will ONLY charge from a 5v charger and in the OFF position – not test or on. For me it lasts about 9 days with normal use.Software issues:*canât get rid of info bar that overlaps pic and shrinks the visible area. this should be an option in settings – to have the bar either gone or OFF the actual camera viewing area of the image. Choosing what goes on the bar would be nice too but mainly need to have option of it not obstructing the actual image.*wonât auto detect and record while youâre viewing or downloading images.*connecting to the camera only works from the âcameraâ tab – which isnât intuitive but once you find it itâs fine. connecting from the gallery option to do so fails every time. There is also no option to connect from the home screen, although DISCONNECT is an option once connected. This isnât a loss of stars – just inconvenient & bad programming.*Doesnât start recording with the detection/ thereâs a noticeable delay from the first movement to when the video starts, which is disappointing and has definitely lost some good shots for me.*Once I got it running, and in place I unfortunately discovered that any pics on IRnight mode just â¦. wonât load off the hot spot. they look like theyâre there, but will not download. This is a MAJOR FLAW. Makes it basically unusable for night. Haven’t checked to see if they are accessible direct from SD card but I don’t want to take that out each time and have a laptop on hand to read it, so⦠this is a deal breaker -I definitely need a different cameraðMounting – kinda weird, have to fully remove to charge. Not the greatest system – the strap is ok but thereâs no ability to tilt it other than wedging with that system. Could be better.

Very good camera
Only gave 4 stars because I have only had it operational for about 3 days. So far, so good! They night vision photos and videos are very clear, and it has a very wide range of motion detection. I wish the Bluetooth connectivity had a little more range, but it serves my purpose.I am anxious to see how long the battery charge really lasts. I charged it prior to putting it outside. It was at 100% and immediately dropped to 80% where it has been since I put it out.For the price….not a bad camera at all!

Great little camera and easy to set up
I received this camera a few days ago. I found it easy to set up, lightweight, and small (in a good way). Iâve tested it in the backyard where wildlife comes through. The pictures and videos are clear.I like that itâs rechargeable, and Iâll be able to check footage, delete, and save photos/videos from inside the house via my cell phone or iPad. I wonât need to remove the SIM card to check the photos or videos. So far, Iâm pleased with my purchase.
