YES! This DOES work with a 3.5mm TRRS microphone (such as from RHODE)
This review is for the USB-C to 3.5mm jack adapter.There were some conflicting reviews and uncertain responses to my question about whether these adapters would work with a 3.5 TRRS analog microphone, and I can confirm that it DOES work.When you connect this to your iOS device, it will ask you if this is “headphones”. I selected “NO” (as it was for a microphone) and to my surprise it works. I was able to record audio using my RHODE mic (see image).There is a tiny bit of hiss in the background, but it’s not bad, and can easily be cleaned up with any sound/noise removal process or ai audio quality filter. So, I am happy with this! It is the cheapest solution to this problem I have found.I am not sure if it will work with a TRS microphone. I only tested it with a TRRS connector from my mic.

Buy a more expensive and larger DAC
I bought it because my audio jack port is failing and I thought that it may be possible to delay repairing it. This is not a good enough solution though; actually, it’s so bad that I am never going to use them. There is a constant static hiss even when no audio is playing. When I play any audio, it becomes much louder. When I bend the cable toward the audio jack end, it occasionally crackles or temporarily stops playing. My phone was engineered for compatibility and recognizes this USB device, but I guess merely being supplied power by my phone is enough for it to output noise into my ears.I should have bought a more expensive DAC even if it is bulkier.
