“Jon Jones called us last night to announce his retirement,” White stated at a press conference in Azerbaijan. “Jon Jones is officially retired. Tom Aspinall is the heavyweight champion of the UFC.”
In 2023, Jones transitioned from the light heavyweight division, winning the vacant heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane. He defended his title successfully with a TKO win over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in November.
Over the past year, Jones has openly supported President Donald Trump.
After his victory over Miocic, Jones mimicked Trump’s signature dance.
