One year after the tragic drowning of saddle bronc champion Spencer Wright’s 3-year-old son in a Utah river, his mother reflects on their final moments together.
“On this day last year, we held you as you took your last breaths,” Kallie Wright shared on Instagram on June 2, alongside a touching photo of her and her husband with their son, Levi, in his hospital bed.
The boy was taken off life support about two weeks after he accidentally drove his toy tractor into a river while playing at home in May 2024.

Kallie expressed that they held Levi as he took his “last breaths.”
“They said it could take a day or two. I was terrified I wouldn’t be holding you when you went, and that meant so much to me,” she wrote. “You stayed with us for 17 minutes. As you left, I felt an overwhelming sense that we had done the right thing by you.”
“For me, this isn’t the day you fully left us, but the day it became official,” she shared. “Levi, we think of you every day. We live for you! Our love for you is stronger than ever.”

The family was hopeful after the accident, posting on social media about their goal to wean Levi off his breathing tube. However, on June 2, 2024, Kallie shared that “after many sleepless nights, extensive research, discussions with top neurologists, and countless prayers,” their family felt it was “time.”
“Levi showed us just enough to give us time,” she wrote. “We hoped those moments were him defying the odds and staying with us, but we see now that he wanted us to find peace in letting him go.”
