A man from Tasmania has won the $70 million Oz Lotto jackpot, marking it as the second-largest prize in the lottery’s history. The numbers drawn in the latest draw (1633) were 44, 34, 45, 1, 46, 25, and 21, with supplementary numbers being 9, 14, and 16.
He bought the only winning ticket online, and even after checking his Oz Lotteries account over 15 times since 11 PM on Tuesday, he was unaware of his huge win. He went to work as usual on Wednesday without realizing he had struck the jackpot.

He shared with The Lott that he had plans to retire soon and buy a house with his partner. The Lott team contacted him on Wednesday morning to share the exciting news of his win. “Oh wow. I don’t have to go back to work anymore, and it’s -1°C here right now,” he said. “I might as well go and hand in my resignation now.”

The man, the only Division 1 victor, expressed disbelief at his new reality. “I barely slept last night,” he told them. “I kept thinking I might be dreaming, and at some point, someone would say it was all just a dream.” He mentioned wanting to use part of his winnings to buy a house with his partner after going through a challenging period. “I want to buy our dream home and help my family,” he shared. “This is fantastic, truly fantastic… I’ve had a tough couple of years.”
“I am just starting to get back on my feet, and I still have a mortgage to handle while everyone else my age is gearing up for retirement. I thought I’d have to work until I’m 70, but not anymore.” There’s another big jackpot coming up on Thursday, with a Division 1 Powerball prize worth $50 million.
