Useful for some applications, but optical quality issues outside image center
The hood fits well on my Nikon D610 and is easy to attach/detatch. It does a good job of shading the LCD in bright light, and the eyecup is comfortable. It allows comfortable, stable hand-holding of the camera while using the LCD.The biggest weakness of the hood is the image quality outside the image center due to distortion and chromatic aberration. If you’re using the hood to achieve more precise center focus while shading the LCD, it will do the job nicely. But due to the distortion and abberations it’s a lot less useful for previewing or reviewing an image where the areas outside the center are important. I also can’t see the entire LCD through the hood:s eye cup. The lens section of the hood does flip up for easy viewing of the uncovered LCD, but then you lose the magnification and the shading.I guess for$24 I can’t complain, since it does what I bought it for. It’s just a shame that the image quality outside the Center isn’t better; it would make the hood much more useful.I gave it four stars because of value for the money – it does what I specifically needed at a very low price. But note that the optical performance outside the center rates two stars at best, so it’s suitability will depend on what you’re using it for.

Works great. Solves a problem.
This device barely fits my Panasonic Lumix DC-FZ80, but with a slight trim of the plastic with a razor it fits perfectly. There seems to be a design flaw of my camera that causes it to go into manual focus because your nose hits the touchscreen when you use the eyepiece viewfinder. That problem is solved when you use this magnifying screen hood. Your nose no longer can touch the screen and you don’t need to use the viewfinder. I really like this item. It’s better than I expected.

Good cheap lcd loupe, nothing more.
Bought this to save at least $100. Since my DSLR doesnât have live preview on the lcd, I just wanted something to check images outdoors on a sunny day. This worked perfectly for that. If I had a mirror less system, or DSLR with live preview, Iâd spend the money on something more sturdy.

An affordable viewfinder that does the job!
The viewfinder per se is very good and deserves 5 stars for price and quality. However, the Manfrotto-size plate that comes with it poses 2 problems. First, the plate/viewfinder connection is much too flimsy to be relied upon in the field. And second, photographers who prefer Arca Swiss plates will be at a loss unless they replace the original plate. For these two reasons, the original plate was of no use to me. Of course, replacing the custom-made original plate means that the replacement plate and viewfinder cannot be attached together with the provided screws, but I found a very simple work-around. I bonded the replacement plate permanently to the viewfinder using J-B Weld 8281 epoxy glue. Now, my viewfinder/plate combination forms one single, solid unit to which my camera can be easily and securely attached. If this work-around is of interest to anyone, I recommend selecting a replacement plate between 7 and 10mm long, for if the plate is too short, fixing the camera might be difficult, and if it is too long it might protrude at the front and prevent the use of large lenses that use tripod feet for mounting. The 10mm plate worked very well for me, including when using my Canon EF 100-400mm telephoto lens.

It’s OK, but Huge
I purchased a new Sony camera and didn’t realize that many modern cameras to not have a view finder. I also didn’t realize that a view finder is something that used very often as an LED screen is fairly useless in bright sunlight. So, I purchased this device to create a view finder. It’s a great idea. The problem is that the device is as large as my camera! Bottom line is that this product works as advertised, but be aware that your beautiful compact camera is going to increase in size dramatically.

Makes using my camera pleasant. the mounting bracket is kinda flimsy.

Won’t fit Sony FX30 without modification
The viewfinder seems well made but it won’t fit the Sony FX-30 (and likely FX3) without modification. The mounting screw for the viewfinder/magnifier won’t line up unless you shave about 1/4″ off the screen side of this item. And that’s not particularly easy to do since it has soft rubber glued to that surface (to protect your LCD) but I did it rather than send it back.
