The ongoing tension between Iran and Israel is creating anxiety not only for those in the region but also for Edmontonians observing the events from a distance.
For many in Edmonton’s Iranian community, this situation brings forth a mix of emotions and a strong desire to assist in any way.
Amir Ghahari, the president of the Royal Iranian Canadian Civic Legion, mentioned that he frequently checks his phone to keep abreast of news regarding the conflict and shares updates with those back home.

“I try to relay the information to them, but it’s challenging because the Iranian government has restricted internet access,” Ghahari explained.
The recent ceasefire discussions have raised hopes among the Jewish Federation of Edmonton.
President Stacey Leavitt-Wright is optimistic that U.S. involvement will hasten the peace process.
“While I’m not a political expert, my impression is that politicians are currently determining what a ceasefire entails and how it will come about,” she told Global News.
