The hide
September is here, and I can’t help but wonder where summer went! Our local store is already stocked with mince pies and Christmas chocolates just as I’m reminiscing about our two weeks of sunshine! The upgrades to the hide, including new exterior finishes, insulated flooring, and fresh paint, are nearly finished, so we’re all set for my favorite season: winter.

The Pied Wagtail is known for its energetic tail movements and its striking black-and-white feathers. You can often find them around parking lots and city centers. While many stay in the UK year-round, some migrate to warmer regions like the Mediterranean and Africa during the winter months. Adult males tend to defend their territory, while younger birds and females gather in groups to feed during the colder months. They mainly eat insects and sometimes search for food in urban areas. Breeding takes place from April to June, with the potential for three broods in a season. Unfortunately, their population has decreased, likely due to changes in waterways and insect availability. However, they are still classified as being of little concern.
