Crystal Palace has another chance to win the FA Cup, and this time they won’t face Manchester United in the final.
On Saturday, Palace triumphed over Aston Villa with a 3-0 victory at Wembley Stadium, securing a spot in the title match on May 17 at the iconic venue.
This marks the third time the south London team has reached the final, following their previous appearances in 1990 and 2016, when they lost to Manchester United both times.
Eberechi Eze scored the first goal in the 31st minute with a powerful shot from the edge of the box, setting up the victory after Ismaila Sa’s impressive play. Sa went on to add two more goals in the second half.
Sa netted his goals in the 58th minute and again in the fourth minute of stoppage time, securing a solid win against opponents who had recently reached the Champions League quarter-finals.
Aston Villa, a seven-time FA Cup champion, was knocked out of Europe by Paris Saint-Germain last week and now aims for a top-five finish in the Premier League to return to the Champions League. They currently sit in seventh place.
The victory margin could have been even larger for Palace, as Jean-Philippe Mateta missed a penalty in the 53rd minute.
Palace, who have yet to win a major trophy, will face either Manchester City or Nottingham Forest in the final, with that match taking place on Sunday, also at Wembley.
