Sharp Telephoto lens for mirrorless R5
This rf240 mm lens is an absolute gem for the price, especially if you’re into experimenting with manual focus telephoto photography. I picked it up for my Canon EOS R6 expecting a quirky lens for occasional use, but itâs exceeded all expectations in terms of image quality, build, and creative potential. Itâs lightweight, compact, and delivers sharp images with that classic donut-shaped bokeh thatâs unique to mirror lenses. One of the most pleasant surprises was how well it balances on a mirrorless body like the R5. Itâs incredibly portable for a 240mm focal length with no bulky glass or heavy elements here and that makes it a great option for hiking, casual wildlife shots, or even moon photography. The fixed aperture of f/5.6 is a non-issue in good light, and with in-body stabilization on newer Canon RF cameras, handheld shots are totally doable. The manual focus ring is smooth and precise, though it takes a bit of practice to nail focus, especially at longer distances. Using focus peaking or magnification on your mirrorless body really helps, and once dialed in, the results are impressive. The lens is surprisingly sharp in the center, and while there is some softness and vignetting at the edges, it actually adds a nice vintage aesthetic to the right kind of shots. If you know what you’re getting, this manual focus reflex lens with a unique look will thrill you. This is not a lens for every situation, but itâs an incredibly fun and creative tool to add to your RF mount kit. For the price, it is a fantastic buy and a great way to explore telephoto photography without breaking the bank.

Don’t love it, don’t hate it.
This is a lens you would only use under special circumstances, and not something you would really use often. It is NOT sharp. I tried on so many subjects and tripods etc to get a sharp image, and no matter what I did, my images were never sharp. They look okay at first, but then you zoom in 100% and it’s a blurry mess. Forget tracking anything that moves because the focusing ring is not a super-fast, smooth experience. Build quality is nice, though. Everything seems durable and well made, but the image quality just wasn’t there for me unless it’s a look I am going for, like a dreamy artistic type style. I will say I DO love the bokeh on this lens. It’s unique.

It’s a neat lens, better for slower pace shooters, sharp when you hit MF.
This is a strange lens for me. I’ve used reflector mirror lenses before and the bokeh is always neat to see, though most of the lenses used have been super telephoto 400+mm lenses. Having one that’s portrait range is interesting. It’s a test of patience though as it is fully MF. The annoying thing is the MF ring on this lens is REALLY stiff and also feels inaccurate on the markings. Sadly it doesn’t communicate with Canon RF cameras to enable the awesome MF assist, but you can turn on MF peaking. When the lens does acquire proper manual focus, it’s actually a really nice and sharp lens. The bokeh as expected is crazy. In some situations it looks like your subject is surrounded by Spaghetti-O’s.This is a confusing lens for me price wise and what it brings. I love portrait lenses and while this one is sharp, it seems overpriced. It’s MF only, but it’s not fun to use it on Manual focus. It’s built okay, but feels more like a $150 lens over anything about $200. It doesn’t fit the RF mount flush, you can feel it adjust a little bit while using it, and it’s noticeable paired with the stiff MF ring on it.When the lens does hit, it’s neat and the effect is nice. If you have a background that isn’t crazy, it even looks like a decently sharp lens. The picture I posted of the power lines is the lens at infinite focus and it looks sharp and nice. It’s not really a birding lens, though it really depends on the photographer anyways for that. While testing it I wasn’t able to book a portrait shoot but I’m sure it would be fun or at least interesting for midbody to headshots.I’m glad to have tried it. It’s not high on the must use again list, but I look forward to having it to mess around with like you would a Lensbaby or a Starburst filter.

A different type of image!
Works well with my Canon R6. The lens is very lightweight, and while I had to get used to the manual focus, I found it gives me more control when photographing distant subjects. The build feels solid and durable. The image quality is fine, especially for the price. It has a bit less crispness than my more expensive telephoto lenses, but it produces usable images for my needs. I like the images that this lens produces; they are very different in a good way. This helps change up some of my art and nature shots that I cannot do with my traditional lens.

Works fine, but not the best quality.
It doesn’t feel super well built. The optical quality is fine, but not great for the price. Its easy to use but probably wont last a long time.

works great
This is a very nice lens. The image quality is very nice. It is very functional an easy to use. Most important is to read and make sure that it fits your camera model. Works great .
