The name is a nod to the catastrophic nuclear disaster that occurred in 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, which was then part of the communist Soviet Union. Ukraine gained its independence in 1991.
The Chernobyl incident released radioactive materials into the air, turning the city into an exclusion zone and resulting in around 31 fatalities.
The mother-to-be’s post received over thirty-two thousand interactions, with numerous Reddit users commenting.
