What was meant to be a nostalgic evening of ’90s rock spiraled into disorder for some attendees at the Bush concert held at Prospera Place in Kelowna, B.C., on Wednesday evening.
Several concertgoers have reported that security at Prospera Place engaged in excessive force against fans during the opening act. Social media and video clips depict scenes of drinks and phones being knocked aside, with fans allegedly being forcibly removed from the venue without a clear reason.
Jaymz Harker, who witnessed the incident, expressed his shock at the unfolding events.
“Two young girls were just dancing when security suddenly leaped over the barricade to pull them out,” Harker told Global News. “They yanked them out aggressively, and we felt compelled to follow because it seemed unjust.

“When we caught up, we witnessed multiple security personnel gripping one girl and forcefully slamming her face-first onto the pavement.”
Harker claims that he was threatened with removal for attempting to intervene.
“I was vocalizing my concerns about their treatment; it was dangerous, and they had no right to act that way. Another guard warned me that if I advanced any further, I would be removed too,” he stated.
However, not all attendees are blaming security. In social media posts and comments, some concertgoers offered a different viewpoint, contending that the security personnel faced assaults amid the turmoil.
One individual wrote, “Several guards were punched, scratched, and even choked.” Another attendee recounted an intoxicated person nearby who refused to leave despite being asked.
In a statement to Global News, management at Prospera Place emphasized, “The safety and security of all guests and staff at Prospera Place is our highest priority. We are aware of recent incidents involving security personnel and the RCMP, and we are conducting internal investigations to fully understand the circumstances.”
Securiguard also released a statement, saying:
“We treat any concerns about our team members’ conduct with the utmost seriousness and are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and care in every interaction.”
According to the RCMP, officers responded to multiple disturbances at the concert and confirmed that several individuals were detained overnight for intoxication.
“It truly disturbed us,” Harker mentioned. “It created a bad atmosphere for the concert.”
