SINGAPORE: What do fans of the British rock band Coldplay and Hong Kong Cantopop artist Nicholas Tse have in common?
They both have experienced unsatisfactory visits to recent performances at the newly opened Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong, expressing complaints about blocked views and poor sound quality.
On Thursday (Apr 24), Hong Kong’s Consumer Council reported receiving 17 complaints from attendees of Tse’s concert tour, which launched this week.
One unhappy concert-goer, who spent about HK$6,000 (US$773) for four tickets, noted that his view of the stage was largely obstructed.
The customer voiced that Kai Tak’s official ticketing system should have displayed warnings about this issue, explaining that he only found out after arriving at the venue.
Others also shared their disappointment regarding sound problems during Tse’s performances.
On Meta-owned Threads, a fan named Don mentioned, “I couldn’t hear what Tse was singing.” He added, “It felt like listening to someone perform from another room in a karaoke bar. It was one of the worst concerts I’ve seen in a long time.”
Another user, justmelted, commented, “I was in a suite on the third floor, and I could hardly hear him 90% of the time. I felt really let down.” They added, “I’m unsure if he just has a soft voice or if the sound system is just terrible.”
