Hu, a college student, had some doubts during her photoshoot.
“I was a bit anxious about how the pictures would turn out since the film was expired, and the chemicals might not react properly. I was also concerned about my poses and facial expressions,” she explained.
Even though she liked the experience, Hu sees it as something she won’t repeat.
“I won’t do it again because I don’t want to spend so much on film. Just two years ago, it was only 150 yuan for a photo,” she mentioned.
“When you’re trying to capture a significant moment or take a picture with someone special, worrying about the high cost or the quality of the image can take away from the joy of preserving those memories.”
THE BUSINESS OF NOSTALGIA
The resurgence of peel-apart film in China is part of a wider global trend that values nostalgic experiences, affecting areas like fashion, music, and technology.
