The impressive series Adolescence is nearing the top of Netflix’s viewing charts. This British limited series has achieved 141.2 million views since it launched 80 days ago on March 14, surpassing its earlier fourth-place position of 114 million views. It now ranks as the second most-viewed English-language show on the platform, overtaking Stranger Things 4.

The only show in its path is Wednesday, featuring Jenna Ortega, which amassed 252.1 million views in its first 91 days. However, both shows still trail the top title, Squid Game Season 1, which reached 265.2 million views. The second season of Squid Game has 192 million views to date, sitting between Wednesday and Adolescence.
Starring newcomer Owen Cooper, the series follows a 13-year-old boy named Jamie Miller, who is arrested following the murder of a classmate. Notably, all four episodes of the show were filmed in a single continuous shot. The cast includes Stephen Graham (Gangs of New York, Peaky Blinders), Ashley Walters (Top Boy, Doctor Who), and Erin Doherty (The Crown, Chloe), portraying Jamie’s father Eddie, detective inspector Luke Bascombe, and psychologist Briony Ariston, respectively.
Despite being marketed as a limited series, there are discussions between Netflix and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment regarding a possible second season to continue Jamie’s journey. This isn’t the only series potentially getting a sequel; during the recent Netflix Tudum event, it was revealed that Stranger Things Season 5 will conclude the saga in three parts, set to release on November 26, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve. Additionally, Wednesday will return for Season 2 in two installments: on August 6 and September 3, following the debut of Squid Game Season 3 on June 27.
