Among the various challenges a golf course can face, a clandestine meeting in a parking lot wasn’t expected at Skylinks at Buchanan Fields in California.
For this public 9-hole course in East Bay, the most exciting event of the season hasn’t involved a challenging hole or a missed putt.
Instead, it has arisen from two vehicles parked in a distant corner of the lot, where a supposed weekly meet-up has turned a family-friendly area into what feels like a dramatic storyline.
An intriguing post on Instagram from the course went viral last week, starting with:
“To the married woman in her late 30s who’s involved with the guy in the smaller silver car, and who’ve taken to using the back right corner of our Skylinks parking lot for meetups… PLEASE STOP.”

This straightforward announcement, which didn’t name names but carried significant implications, quickly attracted attention, generating shares, memes, and speculation from intrigued online users and alert partners throughout the Bay Area and beyond.
“We’re a family-oriented golf course, not a place for relationship turmoil,” the post wrapped up, adding a caution: “If this continues, we’ll share the footage and the situation will escalate.”
In a conversation with Fox News Digital, one of the course’s four owners, a New Zealand native known as “Kiwi,” affirmed the post’s authenticity, confirmed the existence of the footage, and insisted this isn’t a promotional gimmick.
“We’re a community course in Concord — not an impromptu meeting spot for romantics,” Kiwi remarked without humor. “This is not the kind of hole-in-one we support.”
According to Kiwi, staff members began noticing a recurring pattern about two months ago with the same cars appearing on the same day each week, parked in the same empty corner of the lot, where legitimate golf activity is almost non-existent.

“There’s no reason to park way back unless you’re visiting the recycling bin… or something else,” Kiwi said.
As the maintenance team, starting work around 5 a.m., frequently spotted the black and silver cars arriving successively, one worker humorously remarked, ‘Here we go again — early morning rendezvous in the parking lot’ — a comment that soon became a running joke.
However, that joke took a serious turn.
“It’s a place for families. My two daughters often play under the pomegranate tree just 20 feet from where all this was happening. At some stage, it becomes inappropriate. There’s a hotel just 100 yards away with actual rooms,” he pointed out.
After Skylinks shared the post, things intensified even further as the post went viral.
“We started receiving messages from people saying, ‘I think I might know who that is. Can you send me the footage?’ No! That’s not our intention,” Kiwi explained. “We’re not trying to ruin anyone’s life; we just want them to stop using our lot for their secret meetings.”
One individual even reached out to the course because his wife owns a black car, seeking reassurance about her whereabouts.

“That’s when I realized things had really escalated,” Kiwi chuckled.
Despite the surge in attention, Kiwi asserts that the footage will remain private for now. “We have the recording, and yes, it’s evident what’s taking place. However, we’re not releasing it. This is still a family-oriented business, not a crime drama.”
Nonetheless, the viral exposure has drawn fresh interest to Skylinks, a course that has its own comeback story. Once on the verge of closure, the course was revitalized by Kiwi, who purchased it just over a year ago. Since then, he has tripled the business and established it as a vibrant community hub.
“We see ourselves as a community club, not a country club,” Kiwi mentioned. “It’s filled with newcomers learning golf, local families enjoying lunch, and others just hitting some balls.”

Kiwi, who is originally from New Zealand and married to an American, learned to golf at Skylinks and fell in love with it before deciding to buy the course.
Although the message of the post was humorous, their point is serious. While Skylinks has attracted some curious visitors looking to snap a photo near the now-famed dumpster, Kiwi hopes that the viral buzz will soon subside and the parking lot will return to its previous emptiness.
As for those still tempted to treat a 9-hole golf course as their romantic escape?
Kiwi has a straightforward warning: “Keep your hole-in-ones on the course, not in our parking lot.”
Additionally, for the couple specifically involved, Kiwi added something extra.
“I know who you are now. I’m not sure why you chose our parking lot, but I possess a very particular set of footage — footage that clearly shows what you’ve been doing. If you check into the hotel just 100 yards away and keep it off our premises, this will be the end of it. I won’t pursue you. But if you set foot in that parking lot again, I’ll make that footage public — and it’ll be game over. Good luck.”
Kiwi’s reference to the movie “Taken” may be light-hearted, but the message is truly serious: Find another place.
