Manfrotto has released a new tripod that stands out from the typical three-legged models. The ONE Hybrid Tripod is crafted to seamlessly meet both photography and videography requirements, offering a versatile support system that excels in both areas.
The concept of the ONE is simple: creators should not have to pick between features aimed at photography or videography when selecting a tripod. Manfrotto aimed to create a hybrid tool that caters effectively to both needs, and initial observations suggest they may have succeeded.
“The ONE Hybrid Tripod is based on extensive research conducted with professionals across Europe, Asia, and the U.S.,” stated Paolo Frison, Program Director at Manfrotto. “Every aspect, from the innovative leg shape to the XCHANGE system, was influenced by real user feedback. We designed not just for hybrid creators; we collaborated with them.”
Designed for Creators
Manufactured in Italy, the ONE Hybrid comes in two versions: an aluminum model for those seeking durability, and a carbon fiber variant for those wanting a lighter option, albeit at a higher price.
The legs feature a unique flatter design instead of the standard round shape—similar to Peak Design’s Travel Tripod—optimized for videography. This flatter design helps minimize twisting, which is beneficial during panning for videos.
Setting up has been streamlined with the new XTEND system, a patented mechanism that allows users to extend all leg sections simultaneously. No more struggling with multiple locks just to achieve balance.
The center column has also been intelligently redesigned. It can now tilt horizontally for overhead shots or flat-lay photography, and move up or down to adjust for uneven surfaces, eliminating the need to reposition the legs frequently. You can even detach the column completely for low-angle shots, making it versatile enough for food photography, landscapes, or low-angle video work.
One standout feature is the XCHANGE quick release system, which lets you change heads or accessories—like switching from a ball head to a fluid head—in a single motion. This makes transitioning from photography to videography effortless.
If you choose to use a fluid head, like the optional 500X Fluid Video Head, you’ll experience smooth panning and tilting, along with a selectable counterbalance tailored for cameras weighing around 2.4 kg (5.3 lbs), which is perfect for mirrorless and compact cinema setups. The hinged camera plate allows you to switch from landscape to portrait orientation without disrupting your setup.

Content creator Alex Boulton shared his insights after testing the tripod:
“This is one of the rare tripods that genuinely accommodates both photography and videography without any sacrifices. The transitions are quick, the movements are sturdy and smooth, and it stays out of the way during fast-paced work. Manfrotto clearly considered creators when designing this—it just functions perfectly.”
Pricing and Availability
The Manfrotto ONE Hybrid Tripod will be offered in both aluminum and carbon fiber options, with or without the 500X fluid head. The Manfrotto ONE Hybrid Carbon Fiber Tripod is priced at $719.99, while the model including the 500X Fluid Head retails for $879.99. The Manfrotto ONE Hybrid Aluminum Tripod costs $499.99, and $679.99 when paired with the 500X Fluid Head.
