KUALA LUMPUR: On Thursday (Jun 5), Malaysian authorities confirmed that the body discovered the previous day in a lift shaft in Kuala Lumpur belonged to a British backpacker who had been missing for over a week.
Jordan Johnson-Doyle, aged 25, was last seen on May 27 at a bar in a high-end area of the city, prompting both police investigations and an urgent search led by his parents.
On Wednesday afternoon, police received a report about a man found lying on his back in the lift shaft of a construction site, Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Mohd Isa informed in a statement.
Rescue services retrieved the body, which was then sent for an autopsy, the chief reported.
“The autopsy revealed that the cause of death was a chest injury resulting from a fall from a height,” Rusdi noted.
“There were no signs of foul play at the scene, and the incident has been categorized as a sudden death,” he added, mentioning that the victim’s uncle identified him by a tattoo.
