On Tuesday, a federal grand jury charged a man from San Bernardino County, California, for reportedly threatening to kill then-President-elect Donald Trump following his re-election in November.
The U.S. Department of Justice announced that 73-year-old Thomas Eugene Streavel from Yucca Valley faces three counts of making threats against the President-elect.
Streavel appeared in U.S. District Court in Riverside, California, on Tuesday, following his arrest the previous day.
“This defendant is accused of threatening the life of our President, who has already survived two dangerous assassination attempts,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi. “The Department of Justice takes these threats very seriously and will pursue this case to the fullest extent allowed by law.”

The indictment states that Streavel posted multiple threats on Facebook regarding Trump both before and after the November 5, 2024 election.
As early as October 15, Streavel reportedly told friends it was the “perfect day to blow his brains out,” in reference to Trump, and expressed a desire to be the one to do it.
He continued to post aggressive messages about Trump on November 3, November 20, November 25, and November 29.

While numerous posts were made, the indictment highlights three specific posts from November 12, November 19, and November 28.
On November 12, Streavel allegedly wrote, “My a – – is willing to make America great again and blow his mother f- – – – — brains out. The piece of s— will never be my president.”
The second charge stems from a threat he allegedly made on November 19.

According to the indictment, he wrote on that date, “Let me put a bullet right between the ears of your president-elect that instantly makes AMERICA great again. That’s my purpose for living. It would give me great pleasure to kill the worthless mother f- – – – -.”
The third charge is based on a Facebook post allegedly made on November 28.
In it, Streavel reportedly stated, “I’m praying for a successful assassination of your president-elect that will immediately make America great again for the good of our nation. I would gladly give my left nut to be the one who puts the bullet right between his ears. My life’s mission is killing the worthless LOSER piece of s- – – and my mission starts tonight so watch yourself Trump, you are a dead mother f- – – – – and I am your assassin. ‘GOD BLESS AMERICA.’”
“The kind of threats and language used by this individual resemble those that led to an attempt on the President’s life last year,” U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli stated. “There’s no room for political violence or threats in the United States. We will take action against anyone who engages in similar criminal behavior.”
Streavel has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is scheduled to return to court for trial on July 28, 2025.
A federal magistrate judge has allowed his release on a $10,000 bond.
If found guilty, Streavel faces up to five years in federal prison for each charge.
