UPDATE: Outlasting it’s cost and still going strong, beats out the competition!
SEE 11/2020 UPDATE BELOWI haven’t had a chance to fully field-test this slider yet, but so far I’ve been loving the features included. As I gain more experience with this slider, I will be updating this review, so expect more details on features soon. I’m a huge fan of NP-F powered film gear, as the batteries are extremely high capacity and relatively inexpensive compared to v-mount or gold-mount options. The built in remote control means we don’t need a smartphone or other device to control the slider, and the inclusion of control cables leads me to believe there might be some ability to control cameras from the remote as well. For now, I can say the case is fantastic, the design is sleek and smooth, and the components included seem to be high-quality and durable. I note a few of the shortcomings in my video, but those are all extremely minor with easy workarounds. I’m curious to see how smooth the pan function is, as well as what speeds can be achieved by this slider. The price-point does seem a bit high, but I’m hoping the functions within the remote will justify the cost. So far it has been a great step up from a less expensive slider with similar functions, and has become my go-to motorized slider.I’ll be back with updates soon!UPDATE 11/2020OK, it’s official. I love this slider.I’ve used this slider on dozens of gigs now, actually getting an entire summer of work as a cam op for PBS during which my slider was the main reason they were calling me. Being able to run this thing on an NPF970 battery for 8hrs is amazing, and I haven’t had a battery die on me yet. It’s withstood direct sunlight in the middle of summer at 110°F, spritzing rain and drizzle (I bagged up the electronics, but there was still water getting into the gears), and a LOT of abuse and getting thrown into my trunk. It takes practice to be able to set the parallax, and lots of patience to be able to do it perfectly. Always allow 15m to get this set up and finalized, simply because adjusting and balancing two tripods, then mounting the slider, then balancing the camera on top, then setting in and out points takes some serious time.Don’t let that discourage you from this slider though. Out of all the other motorized options I’ve tried (some costing well over $2500) this is by far the fastest, lightest, and most effective setup. It’s extremely smooth and doesn’t translate vibration into the camera at all. Ive also had rigs on this that were 12lbs at the very least and it never bat an eye. Maybe if it was set on an incline, but so far I’ve had zero issues.Love this product, and love GVM! Great experiences with them and their equipment all around.

Great for beginners or small projects!
I had a video project where I just needed 2-3 slider shots and I didn’t have the budget to go with one of the name brands. This got the job done! One of the things you sacrifice going with a budget option is a good control software. This one doesn’t have a app but instead a controller that can be annoying to use at times. Once you get it setup it lets you do what you want but when you first get it you might be a little annoyed.

Fast setup, affordable and great results
The slider can be set up in 5 minutes, it’s surprisingly light and the results are so smooth. There’s almost no motor noise and the remote is very easy to use. You can mount it to a tripod, two tripods for more stable results and also just lay it on the ground for low shots. The slider is also effective manually moving the camera. They provide you with a ball head which is useful and decently built. The remote runs off of the Sony NPF batteries, so we all have tons of those. You can adjust the speed and in and out points of the travel distance. It’s super easy to do as well.Overall I’m very happy with this slider. It’s perfect for grabbing an interview or a quick time lapse. Check out the video review for an example of how the center of interest works.

GVM GR-80QD
The GVM GR-80QD Motorized Slider Is an amazing piece of equipment for the price. You are able to set start and stop points and place it on a loop. The movement of the slider is very smooth and consistent based and based on the speed set. Also able to use an auto pan as well. The quality of the build is great and the size is perfect. Also the unit comes with a caring case that is cloth but keeps everything in the space that it needs to be. Compactness of this slider makes it very portable. And the set up is very quick and easy.

Item came defective and remote overheating
I ordered this item based on a few good reviews fromVideos and testimonials on here. Unfortunately the motorized slider I received came defective, the slider was jammed and would not move, and on top of that I stated to smell burning plastic and then I felt the remote over heating, the screen part. The over heating concerned me because the battery had only been on the remote for 15 mins, I would advise to remove battery every time you are not around. Iâm going to get an exchange and see how it goes. Iâm crossing my fingers in hopes of getting a working one.

Good overall â would recommend for the price
The remote is absolute crap… so plastic and âclicky.â The menu in the remote is also a little too basic… doesnât really do a good job at allowing you to understand what youâre controlling. The manual is hard to understand unless youâre good at figuring things out on your own with only a little bit of help.Good quality on the slider itself. Itâs durable, smooth, and the motor runs quite well. Iâm happy to know that this is where most of the cost of the slider went to and not the controller (though I wish that was much better).

Best purchase ever!
Tested it. WORKS BEAUTIFULLY! Thank you very much! Can’t wait to make more videos and personal movies with it.

I’ve taken this slider to two shoots and on both occasions, I’ve been wasting time going through the motions setting it up Infront of my clients for it to just ‘not work’! It didn’t look great ..I had to ditch it and use a standard static 2 cam setup for my interviews. The ironic bit is, I did a practice setup at my apartment before hand and it worked..In this industry you need to be able to rely on your gear. This product is not reliable at all.

A nice slider for anyone wanting to try these on a budget. Controller is probably the weakest li k but is useable but a fragile part.Works well when setup correctly. Needs power adapter for those of us in Australia.
Amazon Customer –
Overall the product is good – no issues with it’s functionality, but it did not come with an Australian plug adapter and as it was brought on Amazon Australia, and delivered to Australia I would have expected a simple thing like to be included.
