I haven’t tried many of these, but this one seems fairly high quality. Especially for the price. Very sturdy, smooth movement, and it locks down tight when you need it to.

Smaller, Lighter Weight Ball Head
I’ve been a hobbyist photographer for decades and was looking for a smaller ball head that I could use to better pair my action cameras with my collection of DSLR cameras for certain tasks. This Ulanzi product appears generally well-made and useful.It’s essentially just a scaled down version of larger ball heads and appears to be of relatively good quality. Components of the product are made mostly of metal, although there are a few plastic parts: the thumb adjuster for tension against the adjustable ball, and the circular base that one’s action camera/adapter will fit flush against located above the ball & shaft as examples.The only con I would share is that in my opinion the ball head would be a higher quality product if stainless steel had been used for the ball mechanism itself; instead, the manufacturer chose to use painted (I suspect some amount of heat-treated) metal, which does not have as smooth a surface as stainless might provide. As a result, the ball does not move as freely within its retaining cup/base as I would prefer. There’s an adjustable 360 degree locking gauge attached to the base of the ball head for establishing reference points should some users find this helpful.Lastly, there is a cold shoe adapter included, which I find useful for mounting the ball head to the hot shoe of my DSLR cameras; this gives me the option of doing video & some measure of still photography work simultaneously.I do recommend this economical Ulanzi product, but with the understanding that I would not rate it as equivalent to less economical similar accessories that are made with higher quality materials. It does get the job done!

Worth for the price
Itâs small but it does its job. I attach it with my boom arm. The ball head is strong and tight enough to use with my mirrorless camera, my iPhone and my small panel light but it definitely cannot handle a DSLR camera.It comes with a camera hot shoe too for attaching on the top of a DSLR camera.I am happy with my purchase and Iâm gonna buy one more to use with 2 cameras in the same when I film my journal videos on my desk.It came in an envelope with a few other items. Its box was very beat up but it wasnât damaged, so I donât take off any star.

Used with a GoPro camera. Works very well for easy adjustment of angle in any position and holds position well. Not sure how much weight it will hold as max but suits my needs.

Great option for my compact travel tripod legs
I have a cheap travel tripod that has decent legs (a copy of a Takara TN-1581) but a flimsy head. I’ve always wanted to replace the head, and this is the first time I’ve seen a ball head with pan this small. It’s also very reasonably priced. The end result has been great! I love how smoothly this works and the locking screws are really effective too. Easy to recommend this – looks like my tripod came from the factory with this head.

This is a great little ball-head adaptor that is sturdily built. The 1/4 inch threads were an issue because they were nowhere near the 3/8 and 5/8 threads on my mic boom or microphone bottom. I bought an excellent set of AEIX 8pcs Mic adaptors to solve the problem. I am totally happy with the quality and strength of this ULANZI adaptor. I’ve purchased several ULANZI products in the past few weeks, and all of them seem to be very well-built. I recommend this strong ball head to everyone!
