Very Good Umbrella Lighting System for a very good price.
First, I am a beginner at videos and photography, however, I know ISO-9001 quality and performance.I just received the LimoStudio Photo Continuous Lighting Kit LMS103. Have had other lighting systems and by far this one is the best for the price. Remember, this system is low cost so handle with care and it will go far.Pro:* Good shipment of product and no issues. The box has NO dings or crushes.*Good sturdy stands.* Free one replacement bulb-purchased warranty for six months.*Good quality light sockets.*45W CFL bulbs for All three light stands.*Umbrellas are good quality compared to other lighting systems.*Product was delivered without any issues. No broken bulbs, torn umbrellas, etc…*The two carrying cases were fine for the price. Not sure why other reviews thought they were marginal.*The manual provided was good even though you didn’t really need one. Easy setup.Con:*Plastic knobs did not feel strong. However, if you be careful tightening knobs it should be ok.( Remember these are low-cost products).*Depending on room size and room background, the bulb may not be bright enough for some situations. For me the lights are fine. My room is 12 x 12 and only one window with afternoon light. This three lighting kit was fine and produced great video and photo lighting.Summary:I will update this review as I get more experience with the LimoStudio lighting system. Overall, I believe I would buy this product again based on my first impressions, and price remembering users need take care when using, tear-down and re-setup overtime as with most âlow-cost systemsâ.Side note: Itâs NICE to get a product delivered and setup without ANY problems of broken pieces etc; due to lack ofmanufacturing quality control issues, as I have experienced in the past.

OUTSTANDING value and great performance (if you understand their limits)
The LimoStudio Photography Photo Portrait Studio 600W Daylight Umbrella Continuous Lighting Kit is an OUTSTANDING value. I am very pleased with the performance of this set, and given the very low price point (~$45), I was not expecting it to be this good.WHAT YOU GETThe package includes TWO umbrellas, TWO approximately 7′ tall telescopic/folding light stands, ONE approximately 3.5′ tall telescopic/folding light stand, three 45W CFL bulbs, a fabric case for holding the bulbs, and a long fabric case for storing the stands when folded up.WHAT IT’S GOOD FORThis set is ideal for setting up an indoor portrait or video blogging studio. If you have a camera with a fast lens (f1.7 – 2.8), these lights are perfectly adequate for achieving a perfect exposure at ISO 200 and using normal film recording shutter speeds (1/60). If you need greater depth of field, have a slower lens (and are unwilling to raise to a higher ISO to compensate), or wish to illuminate groups of people (more than 3), the lights may be underpowered without additional supplemental lighting or swapping in a higher intensity bulb. The umbrellas do an excellent job of diffusing/softening the light, and creative positioning (moving them closer or further from the subject) gives reasonably good control over exposure results, reflections, etc.WHO SHOULD BUY IT- People who don’t mind filming/photographing their subject matter with a mid-range (~50mm) or zoom (70+mm) lens. (Since the umbrellas need to be close to your subject to provide good light, wide angle lenses will require you to set up your camera very close to the subject to keep the umbrellas out of the frame.)- Individuals who want good lighting to improve the quality of their YouTube videos.- Parents who want to set up a small indoor studio for taking portraits of their children.- Individuals who want good, diffused area lighting for product shots or product review videos.- Anyone who wants an affordable lighting solution to make a small space (approx. 8′ x 8′) as bright as day, with nice diffused light (not harsh shadows).WHAT IT’S NOT GOOD FOR- People who want to film/photograph subjects using a wide angle lens while the camera is positioned more than three feet back from the illuminated main subject.- Large groups of people. I suspect you could use this to light a family of 5 for a portrait with everyone positioned in closely, but really, you need the lights close to your subject and for groups larger than 3, you’d be much better served (and less confined) with a brighter set of bulbs.- Strong directional lighting. Umbrellas diffuse light very well for pleasing colors and gentle sculpting (soft or minimal shadows); however, if you want strong directional lighting that can be controlled for more dramatic effects (especially for stronger and more directional shadows), you would be better served with a softbox setup.- Large spaces. At only 45W, you will need these umbrella lights to be within arm’s reach (approx. 3′) of your subject to get adequate illumination. If you’re setting up a large studio or using a wide angle lens that shows more than a couple of feet of space to either side of your subject, you will find it very difficult to get adequate light while still keeping the umbrellas out of the frame.- Serious enthusiasts who plan to move this studio lighting often from location to location. While the construction/durability of this kit is plenty adequate for a dedicated studio or infrequent moves, it probably will not stand up to the added rigors of being packed up, thrown around, and moved from place to place on a regular basis.OTHER NOTESAt this price point, it should not surprise you that the stands are not heavy duty. That said, they are more than adequate to perform admirably well for years and years. Just keep in mind that the knobs and friction collars are PLASTIC so take care NOT to overtighten them. Also, handle the stands and umbrellas gently. If you don’t abuse them or bang them around, I think you’ll get a lot of use out of this kit.

Cheap but effective
Out of the box one of the tall stands has a busted leg lock. I’ll see how they handle a replacement. The stands are cheap, no doubt. The light sockets are cheap but not bad. The umbrellas are fine. Fact is, I really like this kit. The carrying cases are really a nice touch. Nothing about this kit gives an impression of being rugged, including the cases, so you’ll have to go easy and take care of this gear. If you’re the type that does that, it should serve well. Keep in mind that this is a low cost kit and the gear shows it. But I’m still glad I can get 3 point constant lighting this cheap. The lighting is effective, but don’t be surprised to see that you’ll have to keep the lights close in to get it right. Do not expect to set these up at longer distances as the effectiveness of the lights drops off pretty quickly as you pull them back. Also, my tests show that even though these bulbs are 45w, don’t let that fool you. They are large bulbs and they are absolutely pure white. I think the bulbs are excellent. I compared them to a 100w CFL bulb I had and the white color was off quite a bit and it wasn’t as bright as the stock bulbs. Then I tried a daylight CFL 60w lamp bulb and it too wasn’t as bright even at higher wattage output and the color was not pure white. The kit bulbs are actually very good. The kit as stock will get you going but here’s what I believe is needed for a truly flexible kit, which will require add ons and are available on the cheap on Amazon from limo. Double head sockets for each stand for light intensity flexibility, more kit bulbs to accommodate the double heads, another umbrella and another 86″ stand. That will really do very well to complete this kit. This stock kit is the right price with enough gear to get you going for 3 point lighting. Just take extra care with it and that will help it last.
